I submitted 5 article over the weekends for up-front payment. After a quicker than expected review (3-4 days), 2 were denied upfront payment and 3 were accepted for an upfront payment of $1.50. The difference between the articles that were paid and the articles that were not was the content....the articles that didn't get paid were deemed too generic. So, my next batch I am going to try more of a niche topic and see if I can get paid more than $1.50 per article. Dragon Naturally Speaking worked very well.

Absolutely, if you base your AC articles on specific keywords and choose niches that people are actually searching for in the search engines, you will have much better results. You can be getting $4-$7 per article if you take the time to learn how to do this well.
Also, make sure you're always writing an "eye catching" title for each of the articles. Part of what AC bases their upfront payment offers on is how many page views your articles are getting. If you're good at writing an intriquing, eye catching title you'll make a lot more for each article due to the fact that people are more likely to want to click to read the article in the first place. (of course all things being equal like proper grammar, punctuation, spelling etc)

See that's the whole problem. People sign on, ask "How to make money online" but when it comes time to read it's like "oh no, it's 62 pages long, I can't read all that!".
Hell, some people even complain about a one page summary.
So what's the point of posting the answer to "How to make money online" if no one will read it?

well, its a year old which isn't that old considering that this isn't a true bh method, also there is a whole forum on here dedicated to associated content writing so I think its safe to say some people are making money from articles... I just opened an account and have started writing so I guess I will see in a few days how it goes

It deifinitely still works, just read up on what AC wants from your articles and do some studying up before you get started (just like with any method on BHW).
