Dropshipping Journey to $2K a Month

Hello everyone! I've lurked on this website for many years now and have learned so much. About 7 years ago right before I graduated high school this forum inspired me to learn web development and start freelancing.

I've come to a point in my life now where I'm tired of being "self-employed" and I'm ready to get into the next quadrant of "business owner" (rich dad poor dad reference). I've tried drop shipping several times and failed miserably.

This store I'm working on now I started a few months ago so I'll just get you up to speed on what I've done so far. The store I built with woocommerce(originally shopify) . I got a logo done on fiverr for $5 and it was fantastic. I built social media pages on pretty much every major platform:

Instagram
Pinterest
Tumblr
Tic-Tok
Youtube

I started with mainly focusing on insta and built my following up to about 1.5 K using f/uf before one of my posts "went viral" getting close to 44K likes. From there I let the page grow organically to where it is now, just hit the 46K follower mark today.

So far I've made about $250 or about $130 profit from posts and stories on IG. I'm making this thread to keep myself motivated and to document my journey. I do have plans on opening more stores kind of following the same blueprint but not until I can replace my freelancing income.

At the moment I don't really have the budget for paid ads so I'll be focusing on social traffic.

Next things I'll be working on will be continuing to increase the insta account as well as building two more fan pages. Then I'll be working on editing compilation videos to go on Youtube that I can slice up for Tic-Toc. Followed by creating blog posts that I can use to start some content marketing efforts.

Even if you don't use paid ads, put the Facebook Pixel on your website so you can already start warming up an audience for a futur use.

What’s your niche

I won't share the exact niche as it's not super important but I will say it's considered home and garden

I do have facebook and google pixels currently installed on the sites to capture as much data as possible.
I do need to learn more about analytics though as I will admit it's not my strongest skill.

Currently I'm only doing products but I do plan on implementing some print on demand items after I get some more products on the store.

I'll be trying to drive Tic-Tok to instagram and youtube haven't found a good system for streamlining and managing uploads for tic tok yet though. So I'll have to test a few things out before I get too deep into it

UPDATE:

Alright so I tested out some different ways of interacting with my insta audience. I made a story telling them to DM pictures that want to be featured on my story and the response was insane.
So in order to capture some data from them I'm going to set up a form on my site that they'll have to fill out to be featured. This way I can start building my email list.

I haven't really paid much attention to the facebook page. I just set it to post a meme or some related content everyday and kind of forgot about it. But while I was gone it picked up 63 follows and some likes on the content. But I know this can be improved significantly, so I'm gonna try joining some groups and focusing on posting better content on there and see what happens.

Still got more products to upload to flesh out the store some more.

Also started watching an ecom class by Erza Firestone so let's see what I can learn from there and maybe implement into the store before I start focusing more on really driving traffic.
Just wanna make sure I have all the main systems in place for email and all the rest.

Update:
Alright so after watching some videos and browsing many other ecomm stores I've decided I need a bit of an update to the core architecture of my store.

Things I will be focusing on are:

• Homepage

1. Restructure to put more focus on brand story

• Product pages

1. add slide show style videos for all products

• FAQ page

1. Simplify with drop down questions
2. add video going over top 5 most asked questions

• About Us

1. add a hello from the founder/our story video
2. add more photos showing off our brand philosophy

• Contact Us Page

1. add more clearly defined response times
2. rewrite copy to be more inviting

• Why Buy From Us Page

1. add a video again going over main company philosophy

• Shipping Information Page

1. further simplify
2. add video reiterating copy

• Return Policy Page

1. simplify return policy and add more contact information

• Email Opt-In Thank You Page

1. add thank you video
2. link to social profiles with CTA

• Post Purchase Page

1. add thank you video
2. add copy explaining what to expect next
3. link to social profiles with CTA

The idea here is to make sure all of the main pages around the store build and reinforce the brand. I want to make sure to that it really stands out from any other dropshipping store. I believe with all of this in place it will make building the back-end funnels a lot easier as I can reuse a lot of the content in other email sequences. Then I can really start narrowing down and perfecting the front end of the funnel.

For now on social I'll just continue to focus on continuing to grow the accounts.
Here's a break down of where I'm at right now:

Main Insta: 46.8K
Second Insta: 160
Third Insta: 177
Facebook: 63
Tic-Tok: 16

I need to look for a better way to schedule posts because facebook creator studio has been screwing me and not posting for the last few days. I have my eye on Jarvee but it's a little out of my budget at the moment.

Finally got the core structure of the store to where I want it, with all the automation workflows set up.
Only thing left to do is finish adding the last major category of products then a new relaunch campaign will begin.

Social accounts are chugging along nicely, the main insta just hit 51K
