Keep the mentality that all links pointing towards your site should have good, relevant hand-crafted content. Don't go crazy in spamming them to death, make them look natural as well.

The unfortunate truth, is it takes time to build up a strong web2.0 property, but if you treat each one like you would your money site's little brother (or something like that) then you will see decent results.
