There are other non-first world countries which work for cheap and produce good quality code. I've met a few native Cambodian programmers when I was out there who were decent programmers who work for $300 - $500 a month.

We are not talking about food, we talk about how these people work cheap and provide sh1t services/products, at least in the online world i never got a good service from an indian, sorry. Just my experience.

I hate to admit but thinking back I'm in the same boat.

What was the app they were coding, and in what language?

Just a Node web app fairly basic stuff but nothing was sanitised a lot of stuff cut and pasted from stack overflow which was just patched together.

A bad experience with any other country service provider, they let it go, but if it is an Indian. They talk bad about the country and cry about it — usual happening in an online forum. BHW is not an exception.

You hired the shit guys, coz you didn't know what to expect ( in other words, you're a noob, lol). Your whole interview process was wrong, probably. Did you bother giving them a test task before hiring them? Did you bother checking their code quality? Did you sign a physical contract with them?

It has nothing to do with hiring someone, from any country for that matter. Programming and project management skills are more important than country. There will always be good, bad and the ugly ones. You gotta know what you are dealing with.. lol.

Well, good programmers even in third world countries make more than 4 times what you mentioned without any effort whatsoever. I know this coz i am a programmer from a third world country.

Seriously, how ignorant are you? Being a good programmer has nothing to do with the country. I agree with content writing, native writers have an edge.

India is easily one of the top countries with most open source contributions.

That said, your intention is clearly to demean programmers who are from India. Otherwise, this thread could not have been titled such way. That's where the problem is. You are clearly being ignorant. You can't really judge all programmers after seeing two clients coming to thou for help.

I am from India, and I also happen to be a programmer. That means, this "racist" thread is also directed to me... and I hate that.

Today I've just been contacted by a second new client in a week who decided to go the cheap route outsource their site to an Indian coding company and have been left with a half-finished scrambled mess of spaghetti code.

Tell your cheap ass clients to hire someone from a country where apprantely all coders deliver 100% then. First your clients do not know a good selection process so they are equally to blame in not understanding how to give the correct scope of work and secondly it is not justified to bring out this thread which basically insults the work ethics of programmers in the worlds largest population.

For sure some of the worlds top programmers are indian but those top prpgrammers won't always sit on freelancer and on top of that charge 5dollars per hour. These individuals that are on there are looking for a few extra bucks and in the learning process and your clients need to realise this and explain in detail and be patient.

Moreover a lot of people want Uber like, Facebook like apps and have no clue what goes to design and build one...apparent these kind of people will always be prey of such individual / companies who will have nothing to provide other than spaghetti
