@ContentExpert I know the feeling. I love my computer (dell XPS 2013) Suddenly my harddrive when out and I lost tons of work. Passwords, emails and even priceless pictures. Please do yourself a favor and backup your stuff up and yes it can happen to you.

Definitely, have already started a couple of days ago. I am NOT going through this again.

I am on operation back up as we speak. It's completely my fault that I didn't back up all my files. I am in the process now of looking for a good backup. Thanks for asking @ContentExpert and hope you can one day recover everything.

I think that it is essential for anyone who deals with technology as a living, to have a centralized storage solution..
without getting into detail a off the shelf NAS (Network Attached Storage) is a good place to start. They are a turn key solution that combines enterprise hardware and software to provide a seamless and safe way to store and access data.
They come configured in RAID so you have redundancy between your drives. Say one drive goes out, the system will reserve a drive as a spare and continue to hold your data.
You can expand the storage by adding drives, or increasing the drive size as storage becomes cheaper..
It is also really easy to share your files across your network and devices, essentially creating your own "Cloud"
More technically inclined people can create a storage server (SAN, JBOD, UNRAID ARRAY)..but a NAS is a simple solution.
Buy and use that device and you will be able to effortlessly keep your files alive and access them for years to come.

I just wanted to update this thread to let everyone know that I disconnected and reconnected the HD yesterday and magically, it began to work.
One small issue though, the laptop only runs for 5-10 minutes before giving me the same error (I wonder why this is).

You should really take it to a computer store and get it looked at. It could be a simple connector or something at fault, which is often a simple fix and will save you a lot of woe.
