Why have these sites grown so fast?

I’ve been thinking about this question for a long time, but I can’t find the answer ...

Your question is incomplete and impossible to be answered in a rigorous fashion.
What do you mean grow fast? How much in which time period?
What do you mean that they went up fast in the serps? What is fast? What are the keywords difficulty scores?

All of them are in Indian, so I wasn't able to read, but it's obvious that these are gambling sites (with pretty nice design by the way).

Whatever this guys are doing, if you say they are so good, must be costing a nice amount of $, but the offer seems to pay off for that investment.

Even knowing all the info you didn't provided, I don't believe anyone would reveal this magic formula, at least not for free.

Next time try to formulate your question in a more understandable fashion. Better go read some SEO quite informative threads before asking.

Let's assume they actually grew fast. They grew fast because the owners did the site SEO right. Even if I knew the exact thing they did to grow to whatever point they're at, I won't spill it for you because I hate these typenof questions.

Like the other guy suggested, it's better you go read some SEO threads than spend your time asking why xxxx site grew fast

Have you thought in the possibility of hidden PBNs? Most people hide their pbn sites from popular crawlers like moz/ahrefs so if you check their backlink profile you won't see the interlinking footprint.

There was a popular site in my country that was used as a reference for this. A site from a SEO professional that wanted to promote his "content building services" and used this site as a flagship example

After a while and a leak, we end discovering a huge PBN of 50+ interlinking to this site.

But being, fair I have to admit that the site offered good content for the query intent. In this case, lets say that the keyword was "bulldogs" and the site was something like allaboutbulldogs.com which feature a great amount of info about bulldogs

So essentially this is two folded

a) Great content for the average compared to their competition (you may use something like a TF*IDF tool like Ryte to check for this for your competition in this given sites, I have not done this because it takes some time, but if you are interested on researching this niche you ought to do this)
b) Powerful linking through hidden PBN, that could be extremely difficult to identify if not impossible (unless someone leaks it, which generally is a treachery from a collaborator, or a bad practice like sharing neighbourhood IP, which is less likely because there is more risk of G penalty)

Could also be redirects, but redirects are not as powerful as PBN...
Anyway if they are hardcoded redirects (i.e. PHP) with correct meta robots blocks, you won't be able to track them either (like hidden PBN)

But there is a little trick that sometimes works. There are like 10+ tools that track links. Some of these tools simply disregard robots and sometimes they are not blocked. 1 year ago, for example SEOprofiler was not blocked 90% of the time (similar to Ahrefs but will an smaller database). If you are "lucky" enough to own one of these tools and lucky also, that they have tracked these sites, you may receive their full or partial profile which other tools like Ahrefs can't due to bot blocking

For example SERPstat became in 2018 extremely famous for two reasons: they did a promo in Appsumo offering an entrey package for peanuts, and they were not blocked by thousands of pages, discovering a lot of hidden PBN suddenly.

If you crawl for tools you may find a new competitor in the url crawling world that may offer the info you are looking for (redirects and/or hidden pbn)

I suspect that he might be tracking certain keywords in his language and this sites could take over the first positions regardless of the traffic they generate.
Considering that is a typical high CPC niche (casino?) even a low amount of search could be highly impactful specially if they are extremely targeted.
And also as I suggested, this could be the classic perfect target for a PBN leveraging deployment because its under the hood of even automatic revisions.

For example I have a client that is looking for "house renovations budget in ...." in certain specific area. Maybe the kw has 100 searches, but each of the searches are pure gold, worth being monitored.

For 8 months ONE of the 5 websites manage to get 500 traffic in Thailand. Ill said it again - nothing spectacular.

- unnatural anchor text ratio
- unnatural follow / nofollow ratio
- unnatural http / https ratio
- unnatural home page links / deep links ( at least 10x over avg. )

Verdict:
Cheap link building without even a minimal SEO knowledge.
Spectacular shot in the foot.

The only problem is, that Ahrefs users don't see any informations about link topic ( aka TTF ) which Google use as Topic distance.
For this reason nobody in this thread who use Ahrefs wasn't able to reply for OP question.




The next thing is, that Google modified their Pagerank, where the only one difference is "Trust" metric, as distance between trusted host and linked site. It's pretty similar to Majestic TF, where in Ahrefs you also don't see nothing. Just compare:




Pretty visible low quality link building by low TRUST vs LINK POWER, also Topics are not correct to typical casinos websites.
Ahrefs is useful for some tasks, but it fail when it coming about very important things, like topics and trust which Google use in their algorithm.

The next bad news is, that Ahrefs DR is pretty simple to manipulate, where just 2 FREE LINKS can improve DR from 0 to 47
But it haven't any influence on search visibility - so comparing sites on such metric is without any sense.

Check how much money people leave at the casinos, especially in Thailand, then you will be able to understand,
that even that low traffic can be converted in thousands of $$. What is really spectacular.

Because if somebody is the real expert - only what he need - is the domain name.
