How to avoid BTC sending fees?

Hi, I need to send $9 worth of BTC so I tried to buy from an exchange using my card and there is no fees for buyers which is awesome but I see the sending to another wallet takes 0.0005 BTC which is $5.

Is there any way I can avoid sending fees?

Is this the rate imposed by the place you've bought from? If so they are extorting you.

I generally pay 5 dollars a transaction per site the past few weeks.

Have not used any major exchanges because lost my original phone and waiting for I'd checks

i m using localbitcoins, they have taken "Current deposit fee for incoming transactions: 0.00015 BTC"
and "Transaction fee:0.00005 BTC" for sending to another wallet.
hope that info would help for you

BTC has a transaction fee. It's a feature baked into the currency itself. Here is a page all about the transaction fee. Yes, it currently is around $5 to send bitcoin and it can't be avoided except in special circumstances. Many places will mention this when sending coins, though some will offer an extra withdraw fee on top of the sending fee.

What circumstances? Well, certain exchanges allow members to send coins to each other without costing anything or at a drastically reduced fee. I know BTCpop does this (use the "Create voucher" system), and Nexo.io & coinbase do, too (last I heard anyway), via account to account transfers. Check your exchange/platform of choice carefully to see if yours has a system like this.

Alternatively, buy and send an alternate currency like Bitcoin Cash with a lower transaction fee and then transfer it over to Bitcoin via an exchange once it arrives. You may lose less from transferring between currencies sometimes than you do in sending and transaction fees.

Hm, Incase you want to move from a exchange, I really doubt you have options.
Unless that exchange will give you access to your private keys.

Most exchanges will charge transaction processing fees besides the usual blockchain fees for miners which are much lower. Unfortunately you don’t have any good options...

Why not use blockchain.info to reduce for lower tx fee?

they charges the lowest transation fee out there.

You can also buy bitcoin on the same platform.

Sheesh....for $9 why not just tell them you'll owe them next time...I can't see a reason why you need to send someone such a small amount...just tell them you'll pay them later!
