I just saw yesterday people talking about how dangerous it is to do "Self Diagnosis" wich is basically some people that with no experience based just on their rEAserch make false assumption of what they have for example someone just tired a little bit go check in google and discover that he have a depression or whatever big thing it's just being the norm now with selfhelp books, online information everyone can learn about some issues he may encounter in his life but in the medical side i think it's far more different because you can't really know what you have based on just some hours of research you have done Imagine if you think you have social anxiety while you are just a little shy guy who need boosting his confidence level

In my opinion i think that little stuff that can be simple like low self esteem theory based on (your experience+your own research and learning) can be solved as you will find many valuable information online

But for medical things or stuff that can be more dangerous and bigger like Bipolar, schizophrenia, OCD ..(btw i see even here many people talking about OCD without seeing any professional just saying it because they sae some related stuf to their behavior on Dr.Google) there is a necessity to go see a professional who have studied for years the subject and will tell you and Confirm you if you have something or not he will affirm and not just suppose random stuff wich is huge difference

Now the problem come from this : Is it really necessary and in what level we have to go see a therapist isn't a book written by big psychologist and some research online will help you solve issues because to be fair if in every problem we have to see a professional it will not end is it when you don't see changes even when you apply some stuff
And how to detect if we have some serious stuff going on because i think if you have hallucinations you have to consult if it's just some overthinking reading some good related books will change your life and help you
What are the criteria we have to be based on wether we consult or just learn by ourselves and in what level ?

I really want to know your opinions about that as most of us spend a lot of time doing everything on the online world

If it is negatively impacting your life, then you should try and see a professional when possible. It's as simple as that, and the last sentence of your post is one of the reasons why this is becoming an increasing problem in our society. The last thing you want is unnecessary stress so when seeking help from a professional, explain these concerns and they should be able to give you a decent answer most of the time.

Yes but first i am talking in general not about me and second i want to know when someone know he have to go see a therapist be honest with yourself does every problem you encounteer you go see a professional who will help you on it seriously if we just see number of problems that people have got in their life and how much of them solve it just by research and without being 100% sure as no one can know more than someone who studied all his life the field

And for impacting negatively the life of the one who have the problem for me
All health problem=negative thing not just some of them

IMHO and with the experience of relatives and close one, most theRAPISTS does not work, they are snake-oil sellers.

However, if your situation is critical then you could find help with a psychiatric (they are way too different from psychologists).

Sometimes, it's worth the expensive price to just sit with somebody and unload your shit while they give you their undivided attention. Sadly, nowadays most therapists are untrustworthy and dont wanna hear you talk much. Regardless of how you think how little or big your problem is, it's imperative to see someone especially when you realize you have a problem. Online advice can help, but in most cases, it's not enough. careful these issues tend to grow and expand if left unminded with talk, advice, medications or all of them.

Yes , you can learn on your own (self therapy tools) and that will be the biggest and most worthy knowledge which u could get in your life (imo) understanding how the mind and body work and being able to change and manage your reality .
I have tried and researched 90% of psychotherapy and learned for myself what works and what not . What I can say about the mind , the only thing which makes it different from PC (as an example) the software (information) changes the hardware (mind) . Without knowing the reprogramming u will live in the same prison whole of your life. Take care.

Sorry, by "you" and "your" I meant to represent anybody in that situation. Yes it may be inconvenient and even inappropriate but sometimes you cannot put a price on peace of mind. They may even find the reason you worry about the smallest of things and help you with that. It's a fine balance, I think it's good to find things yourself but if it's continuing to bother you then a professional objective opinion may be the best option.

That's what i wanted say it's only about being self aware and use your common sense yes you will not decide by yourself if for example you have a low self esteem or not but if based on your experience, feelings and your research you see sone changes it's all good i think it will ve necessary only if even advices weren't helpful then you see a professional but just fre*king out and go see a pro for everything i don't think it's good you have to make it only on extreme situations where you feel that nothing of what you have learned have changed your life

Wow you read on my mind bro haha that's my thinking exactly i think that it's a necessity to search by yourself as Online research ,books, youtube you can find gems but it depends on the personality of the learner if it's a 14 yrs old pseudo depressive that makes some quotes on his 22 follower on instagram and "SelF-diagnOsE" himself with some random bullsh*t quizzes about personnality or trust anything online then yes it's 0

But if it's someone who have a little depression and use self awareness and common sense and know that even if he find solution and even if solutions change his life he will not be the same as a pro so he always have doubts without pretending to know everything and don't EVER "self diagnose" himself he just learn by different tools offered to him by dr.Google and learn the right way then it's all good if it can change his life without seek for a therapy

Or even on big cases someone having a big depression even him can benefit from it if he use his common sense... As he would see that even with applying advices nothing change + he will have some idea about wht he can have then he will get to a level up rather than own research he will now go to a professional

It will make a balance of not freak*ing out about everything and it 100% depend on the personality of the learner

So you think like me that it's only worth when no advices work and when it's extreme situations

That problem you have in your mind.... yes that one, the biggest one, that problem that bothers you the most, just don't care about the solution. When it comes to mind tell him to fuck off. And relax.

Here, you have been to the therapist. :)

Don't think about problems, think about solutions, or rather make space in your mind for solutions to present themselves. Where you put your awareness there you lead your life. Do it constantly, making it a habit. Making space in your mind = joy = inspiration = a bunch of solutions no matter what is the issue

Free yourself from overthinking, if you can't do it alone try some guided meditation from YouTube. It will make a huge difference.

If it doesn't help go to the therapist but he will do the same, just with medication. He will put you on some medication that limits your mind so it doesn't bother you so much.

Every person becomes weak at some point and may get psychological problems for a short time, especially with loss of family and other problems. The most important thing is always to pray and ask God. I speak from experience. This is the best therapy you can do.

Wow everyone seems to have same idea like me that's nice as i said there is a difference between "Self diagnose" and "Self help" the first can destruct you the other change your life no one can know exactly what he have unless he's a professional for that the best is to make a balance Learn from everything-If you feel that it change your life good for you if not and problem still happen seek for a therapy so you can know whether or not you have it as he's the only one who can diagnose you in theory most problems that are not really deep can be solved with own research and based on what we feel as we can Potentially know what we have but have always doubts even if we cure it without seek for a therapy
But for bigget and major problems that require some medical stuff, psychiatric ,sucidal thoughts, high trauma, something that can't let you even sleep or clinical problems...this ones i think they have to absolutely go to a professional

When you start feeling in a way that you know is not the right one; when you start to have negative thoughts about yourself every day; when you see your mistakes as the worst and not as an opportunity to change; if you are under a lot of pressure and no longer feel motivated; if you have a lot of problems at home and you have no one to talk to, etc. Not because you feel sad one day means you have depression and that is a common mistake in people

If you are thinking about it the best solution is go and see a specialist, maybe you need it maybe you don't but if you have it in your mind it might be good to give it a try. Good Luck on that

I am talking in general not about me and for this i agree with yiu if someone feel that books, videos, research didn't help him and feel like he have to do something more then it's necessary to go to a professional

Honestly some people diagnose themselves with problems they don't even have. Seek a therapist if it impacts your personal life

Haha yes they pretend that their research can be compared for someone who studyed the subject all his life but don't forget 2 things there is difference between self diagnose and self learning while having always doubt even if you solve issue also it truly drpend on the personnality if someone is self aware and intelligent enough and use his common sense he will knkw by himself when it's time to seek for therapy if he see that what he learned didn't work then he go next level but if it's a little pseudo depressive boy who diagnose himsrlf with "DepRessIon" because he have done some random youtube quizzes and affirm false thing then there is a problem
