Ok guys,

This is the big one. I am just over a month in on my first journey which I will continue. It is a rather small niche that I can dominate over time. The problem is I will never really be able to make the money I need to in that niche without being creative.....

This will be super broad niche. Outdoor ... that's it ... and everything that includes. Yikes, I gave up my niche. Everyone says do not do that so hopefully that does not bite me.

I have partnered with the closest thing I have ever found to real life Indiana Jones. This guy is a walking nature database. We will see if he will be able to crank out as much content as he thinks he will be able to.

I use to be his employer and he's a great guy. He does not know SEO but he will be writing articles based on my keywords and I will format them and add media and interlinking.

I will have categories on each post and link out from my homepage to the categories.

Every article will be 100+ minimum searches and most of them should rank on the first page without any link building within a year.

I want to see how much content we can produce over the next week or so as we decide on hosting and domain name.

I think I want a very short domain, No clue what I want it to be but if out.com was available I would like that. Maybe because I am tired of typing in my very long emd for my other journey.

We will do a combination of adsense/amazon in the beginning as well as other offers where it makes sense with a plan on upgrading from adsense when we get the pageviews.

Linkbuilding: I am going to build a few links to the homepages but we will mostly be focusing on building out a whole lot of answers to questions that don't seem valuable alone but when aggregated together they will be a goldmine.

I should add that in the beginning we will have to write all of the content but I am all about outsourcing the writing as soon as I can afford it.

Yikes, I gave up my niche. Everyone says do not do that so hopefully that does not bite me.

Good luck and nothing to worry about here! You have to better than the competition all the time, anyway. So it does not really matter if people know your niche or not

Currently I'm in a writing mood but working on soothing an infant so Mom can sleep.

I thought I could do a quick update here to pass the time.

I am preparing articles and password protecting them so they will be easy to build when we get the site live.

I have 3 post completed this way that i have written for a total of 1.5k words.

I have been shooting for 1k words per article but oh well. One of these keywords has a page with about 200 words sitting in second place.

My goal is to complete 10k words by this weekend and get a domain picked out by next week

UPDATE: I have 5 articles completed with 3900 words ... far short of the 10k I was hoping for but oh well such is life sometimes. Had some setbacks at the house that I used as an excuse to not get anything done for a couple of days. My partner has 2 or 3 articles done as well. I will have to format his articles and add media and links so not counting them as done quite yet.

We have not really talked about it but so far I have been writing mostly articles about fishing and he has been writing articles mostly about birds. Therefore I am thinking my first two silos will be birds and fishing .

I am proud of my most recent article it was a best of type of article for a very cheap product in my niche but It will likely rank for years to come and earn me income the whole time too

I have found a few good possibilities for domain name trying to find something we both really like. I found a getoutside.somethingorother that I really like but I think he wanted to fit wild in the name somehow. I don't care too much I just want a shorter brand name and I want it asap to get the google sandbox clock started !

I will try and get domain and hosting sorted out this week as well as start work on my next article.

My goal is to target a bunch of keywords that have 100-200 searches per month but I find myself naturally picking the higher search terms on my keyword list...

The article I just completed was 800-1.7k searches a month so not as low as I am planning on hitting.

Hopefully I will have hosting figured out by next post ... I am considering finding a dollar a month hosting for the first few months when we will likely have very little traffic and then switching to a faster / better neighbors provider once we get out of the sandbox.

Would love any feedback about the dollar/month hosting for early on from anyone with experience.

I have hosting and domain!

I installed wordpress using the built in installer and pointed my nameservers ... waiting for them to propagate I guess ... just keep seeing my nameservers landing page...

Super excited to get the basic layout setup and the first few articles up.

I also found a crazy keyword that 2k monthly searches and the top result has 49 words on the page!!!! Just crazy. I dont have an article written for this yet but it will be one of my next articles for sure. I am curious if google will let me out of the sandbox for this one even though it has a lot of searches since the competition is so low .... time will tell .

Update:

I decided to go with namesilo for the first 3 months of hosting since it was super easy and cheap and so far it has been a huge pain in the ass.

Their support seems really crappy compared to hostinger where my other site is and everything seems to be more difficult than it should be but I may just be an outlier.

When I install wordpress using their one click installer everything seems to go fine ... set up all my plugins ... got my theme installed ... tried to add a new page and got a big blank page.

I disabled each plugin figuring that might be the problem .... then deleted each plugin ... then switched back to 2019 theme and deleted generate press theme ... still nothing.

Then tried uninstalling and reinstalling answering the questions they prompt you with different so it would not install a plugin that limits brute force attacks thinking maybe that was the culprit... still no bueno.

Had a chat window with my problem in it for like 45 minutes before someone asked me to send an email so they could "escalate it" to the hosting department. In my email I asked what the refund policy is on hosting

.... Anyone know another good hosting provider that will let you pay per month .. looking to get something very cheap until rankings start to pick up

They just let me know they received my email and to expect a response within one business day (doh)

Thanks for the info/offer guys. I am looking at namecheap and they look good. Do yall use the shared hosting with them? I am kinda torn between that and the managed wordpress hosting. it claims that is about 3x as fast as the shared hosting and they are similar in price. Although I do like that you can do 3 websites on the shared plan ....

I should mention that namesilo said it has been more than 2 days so no refund is possible but only 9 bucks out the window there for hosting so oh well. I am pretty sure I am going to move to namecheap

anyway curious if @Zatoichi or @DropshipDave use the wordpress managed hosting?

I've heard that namecheap is bad for hosting as it is goodaddy and other registrars. Not their business and they usually suck at it.

You should get a reseller account, so you can have individual cpanel accounts fro each domain. It makes it easy to sell the individual websites later on and I think it helps with SEO compared to using a addon domain.

By the way, reseller hosting account are cheaper than you think. I pay about $24 per quarter, for up to 50 domains/cpanel accounts.
