Local Lawyer websites are really old...

Recently took advantage of one of the deals around here and got one of the tools to "analyze" websites. Saw a couple of the local lawyer websites are pretty old and not formatted very well.

Now, I don't see any advertising for local lawyers anyways. There are some commercials for some but they're not local. I live in a very small town. Not quite sure if it would be worth it to reach out to these people and see what they have going on.

Some of them have the little ©2012 or something at the bottom. But we all know that doesn't necessarily mean anything. You can just tell these sites haven't been updated in forever.

Some don't have normal operating hours. Some don't have real pictures of the building or personnel.

I'm just curious for people in small towns that don't see a lot of local advertising...do you think it's worth it to reach out to these people? I have literally NO experience in site building but I think I'd be able to help them.

Some countries doesn't allow to advertise for law companies, in general. You have to check that. However, usualy it's not prohibited to have a website. So you could just work on SEO at this point.

But as I don't know where you are located at, my info could be false.

Your other option would be to set up and rank a lawyer site for your town, start getting leads and either sell these leads or rent the page to a local lawyer by the month.

You'll need 6 - 8 sites for that but it could be well worth it.

Also, hitting the local lawyers up with a call explaining their site looks like a 1962 VW Bug is not a bad idea if you have the skills to make it look like something decent but that is usually a one off and not a residual income.

It should be a lot easier to rank for just your town if all the websites are as shitty as you say. If you're focused on just your local market, I'd start there and use the knowledge to expand afterwards if it's something you want to do.

I know what you mean by not being residual income. I don't plan on hosting and continuing to host these sites. I would just "Update" and possibly rank them.

Right now I would just be focused on local market since I'd need to build a "resume" pretty much. I figure Lawyers are low hanging fruit.

There is one lawyers site around here that seems easy enough...when you go to the site there is one of those chat boxes that asks if you need anything. Then says "how did you hear about us". So they are trying to get some leads somehow...just not sure how they're doing it or if they're paying for it.

Updating them and ranking them is a short term play. Nothing wrong with that but you won't have them on a long term payment plan usually.

Ranking a local lead generating site(s) will feed you for a much longer time.

Rank for (city name is irrelevant here as it is an example):

Atlanta Divorce Lawyer
Atlanta Injury Lawyer
Atlanta Real Estate Lawyer
Atlanta <insert specialty> Lawyer

Get the leads, sell them to the attorneys.

Right now when I search "MY CITY divorce lawyer" this is what I get:

Yelp

Justia

state divorce services website

lawyers find law website

Yellow Pages

So by ranking a site in the top 5 with a Personal touch and lead generation I'd be able to then call up the local divorce lawyers and let them know what I got going on if they google TOWN NAME divorce and I pop up in the top 5.
