So I wanted to renew my .de domain and my hosting plan, which was connected to the domain. It would have been a few days before the actual expiration, which is on 16th August.

I just added both to the cart, paid and then it shows me an error: Domain can't be renewed (???), but hosting plan has been renewed.

So basically I just paid for a hosting plan, which I can't use because they didn't let me renew my domain. Went straight to the live chat, asking them whats going on. They said I can't renew the domain (lol, its not even expired wtf?) and the renewal of the hosting is NON-REFUNDABLE.

This is not the first time some shit like this happened. Of course I opened a ticket and explained the situation. They can see it in their system tho. Guess what?

"We are sorry to hear that you faced this issue.

Unfortunately, we can't fulfill your request because hosting renewals are non-refundable.

Also, we received your cancelation request.

We need to be sure that cancellation is really what you want in this case. Please let us know whether we should process your cancellation request right away or you would like to keep the service active through the end of the current billing cycle.

If your decision to cancel the service is firm, we would like to bring to your attention that the cancellation will result in the loss of all data hosted on it."

So basically they tell me I can't get a refund, but at the same time its okay to cancel it? And what would I get by cancelling it? I would lose the hosting plan and the money?

Things are getting ridiculous

what is the reason for Namecheap not allowing you to renew the domain?

What reason did they give for not allowing you to renew your .de domain?

Just go to the cpanel and backup + download all your data. Then ask for cancellation.
Btw, why can't you renew it? Is it to early or is there an other issue. You could find another cheaper host and simply change the nameservers in namecheap.com

They said the renewal has to be done 5 days prior expiration. Wtf is this shit?
That's just domain renewal rules. Nothing to worry about. You will also be notified by an email when it's the time to renew it

They sent me an e-mail "You have 7 days to renew your domains", but when I wanted to renew it yesterday they said I can't do it, because I have to do it 5 days prior expiration. So the whole e-mail was totally misleading, since I didn't have 7 days, but only 2 days. Thats not the main problem, I do not care about the domain. I care about the hosting plan, which I paid $80 for but don't have any use for and they REFUSE to refund it, even it is because of their broken system, which made me add the domain to the cart and pay the domain, but sending me a refund for this domain a few minutes later and say I can't renew it, but they let me keep the hosting plan.

Now it gets even funnier: They say the domain will get into redemption and I will have to pay $210 for the renewal of the domain. They don't let me refund the hosting plan, because they want to push me to pay the $210 redemption fee, so I can use the domain and the hosting plan.

you have the hosting, you can purchase a different domain from different website and use it with this hosting! cant you?

I could do it, but thats not the point. I renewed the hosting together with the domain, which were coupled to each other. After purchase they sent me a refund for the domain, then said I have to pay $210 instead of $7 to renew the domain, but they didn't let me refund the hosting plan. Do you understand whats the problem? Its just some very bad and crooked business. Its basically a rip off. Letting me renew both of it, cancel the $7 domain automatically after a few minutes, telling me to renew it for $210, but not cancelling the hosting plan automatically. Wtf is going on?

Oh by the way: The hosting plan and the domain were on the SAME add to cart button, because it was coupled to each other. I registered them together two years ago.

And I don't even get it...why won't they just refund the fucking 80 bucks? I mean, they can clearly see in their system something went absolutely wrong?!?!

Nothing went wrong on their system, sir. It was designed that way, to rip people off !!
I believe so, otherwise they would just refund. Its also so incredible obvious "Hey, we won't refund you the 80 bucks for the hosting plan, but you can spend $210 for the domain you just tried to renew hehe"

Really sad man, I never had any issue with namecheap to be honest.
I only had it once..and it was terrible. They locked me from my account, I gave them accurate data about myself, receipts etc., but they refused me and even lied (saying the data I gave them is incorrect) for preventing me to renew a very successful domain, which got lots of traffic. After the domain expired they gave me access to my account. Domain was lost. I opened a thread about this on here as well.

I think when it comes to renewal of successful domains, something in their system gets triggered. Like they can see if a domain, which is about to expire gets lots of traffic and then they will try everything to prevent the owner to renew it. No shit.

That's why you should renew a domain way before expiration date, like 1 month before. Especially if it's a high value domain. You never know the shit that registrars try to pull off.

Just charge it to experience and pay the redemption fee, then move to another registrar.

In my opinion it's your fault. If that domain has any value for you, you should renew him....way before the last 2-7-5 days or whatever.. just my 2 cents

its very well explained by the op that they wouldn't allow him to do the renew earlier.

to op. You could try to renew it again 4 days before expiration. They cannot simply put the domain in redemption mode.

btw, are you late on the expiration date, because that's what i am not getting

Omg . whole episode. Making scarier. Even websites are not safe for IM means what should we do.

This looks like a scam to me or at best a very bad system design, either way your solution is charging back the funds from your credit card company.

Since I paid with PayPal I will open a dispute on there first.

Here is Namecheaps ridiculous reply:

"Thank you for getting back to us.

Let's clarify some points:

1. Hosting renewals are non-refundable per our policy.

2. If you decide to cancel your hosting package, you will not get a refund for it.

3. As an alternative, we can keep your hosting active. You can change the domain name of the package. Let us know if you are interested in such option.

If we receive no reply within the next 24 hours, we will be forced to process your hosting cancelation request.

Let us know your decision and we will proceed accordingly.

We hope to hear from you again very soon."

So, they let me cancel the hosting plan, but don't refund it. How fucking stupid is this? The most funny thing is, directly after I renewed it and saw they send me a refund for the domain, I sent a refund request for the hosting plan. Just a matter of minutes!

Thats some really fucked up business with this russian company.
