Actually, when you put a search in their FIND YOUR NEW DOMAIN search box that search gets saved in their backend system and if it's not registered within a few minutes (if it's deemed to have any keyword value or valuation in their system) they register it and most times put it up on the auction side of their website as a premium domain and charge big bucks.

If you want it yo better register it within about 3 minutes or its gone for at least a year.

It's legally sound but morally bankrupt business ethic.

Be carefull when you make a payment to Godaddy. Sometimes it shows that payment didn't went through. If it says that wait for 5 mins check your paypal/cc if you can. And check your account you may see that domain is in your account.

There are so many terrible stories about Godaddy, Why did you choose them in first place.

My first domain I registered was with Go Daddy, as there was a 99c coupon and they were doing a lot of advertising.

Now I use Namesilo, Namecheap, LCN and PorkBun mainly.

They also banned me for paying with paypal (other name). Domain also blocked for 1 year.. I would never recommend them.

They love to hoard domains under one of their business subsidiary. I had a brand where I secured most popular TLDs including .net and .org. Guess where the .com? They were hoarding it under their subsidiary unit asking price $10,000.

I went to search for my .com version and it was already registered - they wanted $150USD for it.
I couldn't afford it at the time, so I waited. Checked back a few months later - it's on been purchased by another company and for sale for $3k!!
This was after I moved my .com.au domain with them.

I bet this other company is their side hustle or something!!

I have been with GD for YEARS!! I am even a reseller of their hosting etc.

This NEVER crossed my mind until now hahaha

Bro you have to be clever with them. Its not just gonna work like this. Sometimes some of their phone support employees are assholes ! You have to call few times and hit them with something clever and use " your colleague said this .... that ..." in previous call. Once you mention that then they try to help you as it would mean that one of their employees messed up in previous call.

It has happened to me few times. I was rejected by one or even 2 guys then i called in and said something more clever and bam my job was done. You should've been more clever with them bro.

A question when you made the payment in the whois iputed that it was in your name? Did the domain expire and did you want to rescue it or was it in the period of renewal? Have you emailed the incident?

I couldn't see GD on there. GD is a public traded company.
I did how ever see on EIG's massive list of hosting companies they own was BlueHost - apparently they are pretty good?
