Verified AMA Threads

We are getting an abundance of AMA threads as of late from new and old, established and non-established members.

While there are some very good quality AMA's from members like @William702, @710fla, @TheSphinx and @yakuzaemme , there are also plenty that fall into either self-promotion, unconfirmed claims, and/or extremely thin responses that almost seem to be a post count inflation tactic.

Why not have these AMA-style threads to offer to have their claims verified by a moderator? A simple submission of income claims and an independent verification of accuracy by a mod would ensure that threads don't get derailed with skepticism.

I'm all for newer members with extensive experience sharing their knowledge with the community, but there should be channels to traverse. This will keep naive members from following through on illegitimate advice, or fall prey to potential duping by members whose claims are more grandiose than reality.

A moderator approval after the OP, similar to a BST thread, would go very far in making sure that members stay safe and AMA threads don't go sour quickly with unsubstantiated or self-promoting claims.

When you've been around this forum a while you will see why people are quick to call you a snake oil salesman.

You're probably like the 8th guru this week to have his business name, logo, and link to his website but claim to 'not be selling anything'.

You could have atleast made an effort with your website.

I made the website a few weeks ago in hopes of just having a blog where I can share some tips. Nothing more.
Literally have 0 things for sale, lol. Don't get where these claims come from.

You could just stop replying.

Get involved with some thread for the next few weeks, drop some knowledge.

Then start your AMA.

Even if I didn't know your age, I would guess you were 16.

If @Diamond Damien believes there are enough resources for MOD's to verify user earnings (for free) on top of the verification processes required for BST's and other threads, perhaps we will see it introduced.

Personally, I do NOT see this happening though.

Not a bad idea by any means, wouldn't mind seeing it myself.

However, it would require quite a bit of effort and additional resources from staff to verify such claims when I'm sure they're ALREADY working overtime to manage the forum/threads (something to keep in mind).

Perhaps they should start recruiting Jr. Exec VIP members to verify member income claims for such threads?

That is generally not a good way to begin your interaction in this community. While I don't doubt you are doing well I was the staff member who removed the links as you don't have the proper permissions to post links just yet and perhaps it would have made sense for me to follow up with a PM to you. I apologize for not doing so but I'm a little dizzy today.

What works best is not coming here telling people you know the answers to your particular niche right off but rather interacting and sharing in a less aggressive manner.

Lots of people (I'm not saying you) come here purporting to be this or that as to IM scholars in areas in order to pick the pockets of the members here and that is why that idea, although not malicious from what I read, is not the best path.

Hang around, get to know the community, interact, share a bit when you see a question that people are asking and you'll be fine here and enjoy the community and probably make some real friends.

AMA are self-promotion threads. It'd be nice to have them verified.

"I'm a Facebook Ad Expert AMA" translates to "I'm a Facebook Ad Expert, send me a PM to hire me".

My response did not address @Sherb's idea.

Not a bad idea at all on some levels.

We would actually need the staff member to know the niche/IM aspect of the AMA be it adsense, FB, IG, etc as that is an important part of vetting (we do that in the BST approval subforum), have the time to ask a bunch of questions and get a bunch of answers (that also is a large part of the BST approval subforum as there are often 20 - 40 posts in there back and forth to vett the seller's product/service(s)) and the AMA guy/gal would have to be OK that it might take a minute to get that approved.

Perhaps an AMA subforum that goes into the moderation queue before it goes live after vetting would also be a good aspect of the idea.

As my old friend Eddie Colella use to say, "Keep those cards and letters coming" as new ideas are good for the health of the forum and good for the community as a whole.

I like the idea. However right now verification on every ama is a big ask. Currently with 2.0 and the ongoing development of the forum, along with the rampant growth we’re enjoying (and the spammers that come with that), it would be beyond our current capacity. Not to mention the privacy laws & GDPR that would have to be covered from a legal standpoint. None of this is insurmountable. We could start with the verifying the most popular AMA(s)of the week / month and see if interest is there. If it is then we could feature them and make it a feature.

Yes, yes, yes and yes.

It doesn't take more than literally 2 minutes to hop on Skype with a mod/verified and just pull up bank statements or receipts of payments within a certain period.

Add to this with a tag to the thread - something like "Verified" (as the Please read BST threads), and it will be much easier for members to find good content.
