48÷2(9+3) = ???

Priority of operations is:

1. Parentheses
2. Exponents
3. Division/Multiplication (with division "informally" having higher priority)
4. Subtraction/Addition (with subtraction "informally" having higher priority)

Also, if all operations are of same priority, it is an "informal" rule to solve left to right.

So, 48/2(9+3) = 48/2*12(since parentheses go first) and that is where it gets messy. If both division and multiplication theoretically have equal priority, then it would be the same whether we multiply first or divide first. But it is not as we can see. So what do we do? We stick to "informal" rules - division over multiplication, subtraction over addition, solve left to right.

That way, 48/2*12 = 24*12 = 288 which is the result Google will also tell you.

I believe this problem really has a different answer based on how you break it down, e.g. If you use modern BODMAS/PEMDAS rule it will be 288, but using older definitions/order of operations will result in this same problem being 2.

Qsn is 48÷2(9+3) then acc to bodmas formula
=24(9+3)
=24(12)
=288
