I should have known that it was someone from bhw <3Hey boss, I made this. Glad you like it. Check out my post: https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/seo-influencers-shining-the-spotlight-the-credulous-seo.1129690/
In my experience, it isn't. I have the most epic article on a certain topic. It's a 6k word long scientific article with zero fluff written by a real doctor which explains the topic on the molecular level (literally) from A -Z. Without links it went to the top 40. While the first page is filled with 1000 word long articles which briefly introduce the topic, but they are on authority sites with tons of links. In an other niche there is one guy who recycles his own articles on all of his domains, hence every article he has is 25% copied. And guess what, there are some keywords where he is in top 10 with 4-5 domains. Links are the king. It’s funny when they say content isn’t king. Yeah, you keep thinking that.

I think you are not reading between the lines my friend, because you just said that blasting backlinks despite the lower quality content wins. You’re not reading between the lines my friend.
Your 6k word article went to the top 4 pages without you doing anything to it. The sites on the first page with 1k word articles has to BLAST those articles with links.

Newbie here, I get mixed feedback, but do nofollow links carry no juice or what? Should I be building those as well, especially from high authority domains?
You actually dont have too spoonfeed your answer as you should know from my first comment that I disagree with you. I dont deny that its easier to rank good content, but the "content is King" is just Google propaganda. And yes, I ranked in top 40, so good for me, and now I have tó build links u know why? Because link is the King. Also, you conveniently didnt mention my comment's second part where the guy ranks copied content áll over the web. If content would be the king and always the best, most informative article would be the #1 seo and linkbuilding wouldnt exist, but it does, because links are still the most important ranking factor.Okay, I’m sad I actually had to spoon feed my response to you here but alright:
The 1k word article of your competitor was created before yours and ranked before yours (theoretically).
Then the competitor has to blast their way to the top. They had to work for it. They had to work hard too, apparently.
You, wrote a 6k words engaging article, and were placed in the top 4 pages WITHOUT any backlinks and primarily because of on-page SEO and article content.
Now, if you blasted yours with a tiered backlink campaign, obsviously your content would rank.
Thusly, content is king in this scenario. I don’t see how you’re not reading that, but hey, keep thinking that. That way my sites always rank.
