Like some other members here, I also think that cloudflare has nothing to do with your rankings. The major contributors to your rankings is SEO strategy so try to do some proper optimisation in order to improve your rankings

I don't think Cloudflare has anything to do with SEO, good or bad. But if you're on a shared host, Cloudflare improves the TTFB so it may have an effect on website speed, which is an important SEO factor.

Actually Cloudflare (FREE) sometimes may harm your website speed and SEO rank. It depends from lot of factors of course.
Regarding privacy protection, don't think that cloudflare care for your privacy, anyone can do fake copyright claim and they will provide all the information they have for you.
The SSL from cloudflare will indeed make your website a bit more slower and that because the encryption of your website is made from 3rd party server and not your hosting server directly.

Do your self a favor and move to offshore hosting provider with free or cheap SSL certificates included and ask them to setup it for you.

This was posted back in 2016 and this concludes my hypothesis. If you got doubts you can have a test and remove cloudflare from your site for 2 weeks and see if it'll improve your organic traffic. Someone already did it with positive results. My website is also back on top rankings

Interesting... I use CloudFlare pro for a few months now, and I have dozens of top 1-5 keywords rankings, but also many unranked keywords. I might as well go for some case study route - disable CloudFlare for about 1 week.

Top 1 Keywords count since disabling Cloudflare:

Put about 20 sites onto CloudFlare over the years and never seen an SEO hit, I've also taken sites that were low in serp's to high positions while using CF. The bandwidth savings are awesome, the speed improvements are great and the SSL policies are excellent. Can;t recommend them enough really for the free service.

There is some logic to bad neighborhood penalties. But you would think CloudFlare with the size it is now, would be across something like that. It wouldn't have done them any favors while growing to the scale they are now if every customer who added a site lost SERP ranking, they would have been sunk pretty quickly.

Funny that I have just found this post. I stopped Cloudflare whilst switching servers (faster) and then Cloudflare had all the problems recently (had it disabled for over a week or so). I saw one of my keywords jump from not ranked to 11th for a high competition KW. I switched it back on and it dropped out of search 2 days later...

Might test it again, because I was completely baffled how it happened.

It happens to me also long ago, I removed the cloudflare we got the rankings back but I see few sites where they are good in ranking even using free cloudflare. Not sure why but if it works for you keep it else just disable it.

I've only just paused it today, so will check back next week. Not holding my breath, but would be interesting if I can pull it off because it has over 30k searches .

Did you simply Pause it within CF or did you completely switch the nameservers away from CF?

I'm willing to test this on a few CF sites.

Interesting. I didn’t think of this when one of my sites suddenly lost it rankings for unknown reasons. Will try on that site and see what will happen.
