Instagram account username taken

Hello,

i am a British actor and i have an IMDB Pro account, with about 15+ credits, i am in some of the biggest TV shows and movies in the world and i have verified accounts on picsart & ask.fm my twitter isn't verified yet.

My twitter has 125,000+ and i follow 700,

my name was user1 and i really needed "user" I have a dedicated account manager at twitter who was able to change the username of the account who was using my real full name and give me my full name on my account on twitter the other person who also has my name in real life, but he is now called USER1 i am now "USER" he used to be called "User" twitter changed it for me based on my public presence.

now my IG is the same someone has my real full name USER i have user1 as an example, how can i get Instagram to change it to user? which form should i complete? or who should i contact?

I am in the acting unions, and other verified accounts and i really want USER and not user1 is they any legal way around this?

i have around 2,000 followers and follow 110

So, basically, if you are who you say you are, you tried to convince IG to force someone to change his/her username? It doesn't work like that I think since this will be a precedent so all those big agencies will start on picking up good username than go and force the owners to give it up.
 
Oooh look at Mr I'm The Worlds Biggest Actor Fancy Pants over here but only 2,000 followers? Sorry mate, I've seen upcoming unknown actors with a way larger following. Fans will always find a way to find you.

Don't just take it off the person. Be humble and message him a offer to purchase it (if you haven't already).
 
You have two options as far as I know.

1. Offer to purchase the name.
2. Retrieve it through a Trademark claim (which would require you to have a trademark).
 
Why not be creative instead? If your name is Beckman, try therealbeckman, beckmanofficial or iambeckman. It doesnt have to just be your name.

Instagram is tougher than Twitter by a lot. I've been able to get Twitter usernames, where Instagram just won't do it afaik.

I'm not even sure if having a trademark of the exact username sways IG, they used to but not for a long time.

An option might be to get an advertising account with either FB or IG, one of the one's where you're paying quite a bit in ads per month. Then when you have contact with an ads manager, you might get a better result if you can speak with a real person that is paid to look after your interests. My guess would be that this still won't work though, like I said IG is militant about usernames compared to other platforms.

Thanks, Why the comments? I am trying to do whats best for my brand, it isn't about been famous or been an actor, its about ensuring my brand is searchable for fans in the best possible way by using my same real name on all my social media.

After emailing them, They said the following,

"Thanks for your report. Based on the information you’ve provided, the work you’re claiming rights to does not appear to be subject to copyright protection. Copyright only protects creative expression and typically doesn’t protect things like names, titles, short phrases, or ideas.

For this reason, we are unable to act on your report at this time"

Then 5 minutes later they blocked me from liking anything with this message

"based on previous use of this feature, your account has been temporarily blocked from taking this action, this block will expire on 2019-05-30 we restrict certain content and actions to protect our community. tell us if you think we have made a mistake"

But i hardly like anything? and post once a month, could it be based on using too many hashtags in posts?

IG is the only social network in the world i can't get the username, i will contact the person directly.
 
metatrons cube, yes i have an account manager at twitter, they even gave me £500 free advertising credit which was very cool, I don't have facebook currently i had two accounts and they banned me for impersonating myself, because i used to same ID on both accounts oops, i have never been able to access the accounts again and even lost a fan page of 15,000+ and 2 accounts of 15,000+ but i may have to setup a business page to run advertising on IG
 
all i want to know if whats the best way to get hold on a username which is my real name, and they abuse me lol.
 
I'm in your exact same boat with instagram. I've had no luck. To make things worse, the USER account that I want is a spam account & they have 0 posts. Your best bet is to go with USERofficial or something along those lines until you get verified. Or spend a lot on ads ( but I'm not sure if that works ). Instagram is pretty tight on usernames.
 
Your best bet would to hire someone to get you the name, there’s blackhat ways to do it but it would cost you a big dime $

Don't see why you're hating on this guy. FB and IG are both assholes when it comes to stuff like this, for all users.
 
Use a regular template like official. And why care about this if you've just 2k followers?
