Hey everyone! So thought I’d kick off the new blue life with a little guide that has helped me land clients, add some credibility and just make $50 here and there with some good volume.

I call it The Complete Instagram Audit

GXwaFzYrxVHiwwNMUkOmFIeNYudvWUK0HX9oq8h9nFmP0ooO84e_BWDgzsEtkUL-KyETd436UF3A6RwV--8hJfGi0awco26s0MG4F1_vAg-PvYPmQ7wz77w2JmVDwS74g74OyYzY

Now before we get into it. This whole point of this Instagram Audit is to essentially get clients familiar with your business and get them into your sales funnel. I’m a business guy and if you don’t know what a sales funnel is...think of it as the method you use to get people’s attention and then slowly convert them into a customer. By providing them with something for free, or at a low cost the gives high value you gain their trust and hopefully their interest and money haha.

Quick resource for you guys is a site called Canva. I used it for this audit and a lot of my graphics and is free. There is a paid type of freemium model, but you don’t need it lol for the most part as they have a lot of content.

Okay so let’s get into it, I’ve attached pictures of an old one I did and just switched out the sensitive info to help you all follow along :) I don’t really use these any more but they are great way to help fund the start up of your agency, or bring in some side cash, or use it to help close a monthly contract type of client. Feel free to use any info in here for your own endeavors, I won’t be able to explain every tip but by looking at the pictures you should get a clear idea :)

Page 1 - 4: Profile Analysis

So first thing people usually want to see is some type of analysis on their profile. You can just hit them with a bunch of easy stats and give them arbitrary grades depending on if their profile is actually good or not. Here’s how I do it:

I9ZZdRn5ig7wdNhm7iqTvDFMHODvchaRrPUkmTsCZr3qFyNMzfusk0UtEI7yCOM13G96xg-zie6RcwTD1L_GdbNf5pppVmS2W1SkPMOjYLnZDnK1NPw3dpNsloP437OyTdCtBYVQ

Again, this is all created on canva so it’s all template based. Really not that hard to do and makes things look a lot nicer than a word doc. Once i create one, I can easily swap out the pictures and mix some of the writing to quickly shoot off to a client. Just includes some basic information, feel free to use some of my tips here, it’s all publicly accessible information, just designed nice :)

Next I do username feedback and start the profile picture analysis. Just using common sense really to give grades. The tips I give are pretty standard if you know how the algorithm works. Things like not long username, no trends etc, this kinda just makes sense and applies to a lot of accounts so will make doing the audits a lot shorter.

PRO TIP: Don’t give them amazing grades all the way through, they should be able to work on some stuff aka that’s why they want to hire you!

Continuing the profile analysis, give them their profile picture grades and start with the bio.

You want this to be of actual value to people, so include some practical actionable information they can apply directly. I’ve personally included profile pictures for them to look at so they can see first hand what I am describing.

Finishing up the profile analysis they should have a nice example of what a good profile should look like, and how they can improve theirs. Feel free to look at the tips I give to apply to your own.

At this point the customer should be thinking in their head “wow these guys really know what they are talking about”

Page 5 to 6: Engagement Strategy

This is the longer part of the audit which will take more of your time, harder to swap and replace. Make sure to give them some good info here, think about how you grow your own accounts and apply it to their scenario.

PRO TIP:
This audit’s primary purpose, unless you just sell them individually all the time, is meant to convert someone into a longtime customer. You don’t just want their money once, you want it again and again every month. Therefore, when I make these I do something called overloading (I don’t know if this is actually a thing but it works for me and I like the name lol).

Basically you want to really hit them with a bunch of stats, plans etc so they are like “wow this is great information”...but also “I could never do this all by myself!”. That’s when you come in with your instagram expertise and assure them you will help them out and take care of all it for them aka a sale :)

This is what I do personally. Again it will be different for everyone but its a good example to start from.

You’ll notice I have some stats such as average likes, comments etc. This just adds credibility. If you need these numbers, simply type in instagram engagement calculator into google and click one of the top results, tons of free ones out there.

I included targets for the client and then all the metrics I usually go with for finding them. Again...we are overloading them right now. These number might mean something for you and I, but for the average joe it’s a lot to take in.

Page 7: Influencer Collaboration / Marketing

This page just sets out a decent influencer marketing campaign they can quickly glance over for their profile. A lot of this info is pretty well known, but for these businesses it is revolutionary haha.

Your strategies may differ from mine but try to provide something that is relevant, and practical for the client. You are a business and your job is at the end of the day to provide value

Page 8: Content Strategy

This is the the last page of the audit and just helps with aligning their content with their growth goals. Truth is, most businesses post junk content and are way to promotional or selly. The main reason why I include this is so that if we do sign them, they will grow faster because they’re not just posting non-value adding content and will understand what their audience likes and doesn’t like.

You’ll see I’ve included just some basic tips. I usually just look through their niche for an hour and see what’s performing well and what isn’t. After you know what the niches look like, the content strategy takes like 5 min to swap and replace. Just like before, I also like including sample accounts I’ve found in the niche too help the client get a better, practical understanding.

Final Thoughts

Well that’s it for this post. I hope this can help some of you get started with your instagram business or maybe even add to your current offerings.

This has been a great tool that once created, takes little time to provide a lot of value to potential clients and current customers.

If you have any questions about it just reply below, no PMs as I want everyone to be able to learn and bounce ideas off each other

Cheers,

Thank you for this detailed guide! That's awesome and it will increase the amount of trust. BTW, I think this might work even for sites that needs improvement... Just using a different approach

Thanks for sharing.

You could ( if you wanted ) put that in the Downloads section too, just upload to Mediafire ( or similar ) with a VT scan.

That's a really good written thread, this will surely help anyone dealing with Instagram clients, thanks for sharing it!

+1 I like the content and from a graphic designer perspective, I like the graphics.

This would be awesome! Do it OP!

Unfortunately canva doesn't have the ability download editable templates. But I'll upload the PDF of the audit for everyone in a day or so no problem! Should be able to take directly from there and apply to your own ventures :)

Thanks for the guide, very useful. I have a question:
Let's say you get in touch with your potential customer, send him this audit directly or ask him if he would be interested in a complete analysis of his account for $50? You offer a minimum product to convince him to buy your $50 product?
And when do you see you discuss the prices of the service?

I created a promotional video for this product that explains everything that is contained within it. That usually provides enough information for them to buy or not.

It's $50. I use this to get customers into my sales funnel. If they aren't willing to buy this then they most like are not willing to buy the rest of my services. So its a great gauge to see if a customer is the right fit or not

Great Guide!! Have you followed up with the clients accounts afterwards to see if the implemented all of your suggestions??

Yeah that's the main point of the audit. All about getting them into the sales funnel

Follow up after a week or so and ask them how things are going, if they need any help etc etc.

Flex your expertise and provide them value and hopefully it'll lead to them buying more of your services :)

Very interesting approach with the video thing !
I believe you are contacting accounts that are doing Instagram promotions or local businesses and send them DM's and emails?

Yeah essentially anyone I see with a lacking profile (which is so many users). Businesses / consultants are great because $50 ain't much and they want to improve as cheaply as possible.

Cold calling by phone is also a great method. DM/emails are tough to get opened. If you are DMing make sure to interact with a couple of their posts to catch their attention.
