yes to use mac is't hard.... its easy....
Very easy yes, but also just the simplicity amazes me - for example they reloaded the mac when i bought it. Complete reload of the OS and it took about 10 minutes or less. Also, I logged in with my apple ID, and immediately all of my websites, passwords etc are available from my iphone. Thats great.
I have an offline job as a computer engineer and I am having to fix more and more macs. I already know a fair bit about them in terms of troubleshooting, but I feel like I should know them inside out, thats why I bought one, simply to learn how to fix it. Also I wanted one so that my daughter could use iMovie which I have heard is a great tool for putting together movies.

I've been using a Macbook Pro as my primary for some time now and love it with the exception of some minor keyboard issues which Apple will fix for free if I want to make the hour and half trek to their store.

I knew you were a fan of Macs and normally I am the opposite, but now I am converted. This feels similar to when I learned to drive many years ago, and realised how much I had been missing out on by taking the bus and train everywhere.
You will be going to be confused using mac, and macbook is not user friendly just like windows. You will be having lot of problems with the interface

Since you are using windows for long time, you cant go to mac that easily.
I take your point. I have a fair amount of knowledge on them already, and I am going to invest my time in learning them inside out.
MacBook Air is an ancient machine. If you got converted to Mac using it, your requirements weren't high anyway.
In my opinion, Windows still have the edge when it comes to price to performance ratio. But hey, whatever machine you're comfortable on and gets your job done is the right one. Cheers.
Agree, the higher end Macs are expensive. This was pretty much the cheapest one I could find, but still with a half decent spec (i5, SSD, 4GB ram). If I really enjoy using it, then I will probably sell this one back to the place where I bought it, and get a new model.
I'm not a fan of Apple at all.

Well, I just bought a Dell xps 13.
It's the muts nuts and a bit more.
But, I will be buying my Mrs a MacBook at some point for two reasons.
1 - she's a photographer and I think it may suit her more for this reason.
2 - I want to try one out, but don't want my own.
Anything in particular stands out to you Dave?
The dell XPS laptops, they really are a decent bit of kit as well.
