Hey guys,

This is going to be my first attempt to make some money (will try amazon affiliate) in the long run with a website, given this, unfortunately, I'm confused about some things that I'd appreciate if you could give me an explanation about how they work or an idea of how to do them.

I bought the domain and hosting less than a month ago, so it's everything's at the beginning, and it has around a few articles with different small niches. After I get accepted as an affiliate I'm going to restructure and upload articles for a specific niche.

I'm using a plugin, semrush, to see details about DS/TS of a site, to get more details about it.
1. If I search for my site on google, the DS and TS are at 0 and no other details are given by semrush. What do I need to do about this? Or should I do something specific or just wait for a while?

2. How do you acquire backlinks? I know you can buy them but I'd prefer a manual approach at the moment.

3. How to increase DA? You can do that only with backlinks?

PS. The plugin name is not written here with the purpose of marketing, it is just for additional information about what I wrote about.

PSS: If I posted in the wrong place, my apologies, and if it can be moved where it should, that'd be great.

Thanks!

Semrush's DS/TS are just made-up metrics to measure the impact of a webpage or domain’s links. The more (and better) links you have, the higher those metrics are. You need to acquire links, not to make those metrics go up, but to make your rankings go up. The metrics will go up as well, yes, but that's not the goal, that is just an indicator. Don't obsess over it.

This is the biggest question in SEO. Search for a book called "The Link Building eBook by Paddy Moogan", you will find there more and better tactics of white hat linkbuilding than anywhere else. Be careful when buying links and doing blackhat stuff.

Yes, only with backlinks. DA is Moz's version of DS, they are calculated over links.

Also, give this a good read: https://moz.com/beginners-guide-to-seo

Thanks a million, mate!

I can answer only these two.

2. How do you acquire backlinks? I know you can buy them but I'd prefer a manual approach at the moment.

3. How to increase DA? You can do that only with backlinks?

2. Manually - check out the link building section and you'll find some good shares but don't overdo it as your site is new. 1 link a week is a good pace :)

3. What I learned is that DA is not important. DA is not a metric Google takes in consideration. Focus on quality backlinks and don't care about DA :)

Thank you for your reply.
Yeah, since this is my first try I will try to do everything to see how it works, what it does, why should I do it and so on.
I want to learn as much as I can.
