They all have gone through our premium SEO and marketing training. Most of them have decent knowledge of SEO and can easily pick up work. However, we generally ask for a detailed instruction just to make life easier.

How qualified are each of them? Do they have individual portfolios we can look at?

I would say, they are better than your average VA on Upwork. 99% of them have their own sites which helps. Unfortunately, don't really have a profile page to showcase them but that's a good idea.

I tried it and then canceled the service after 3 days because it just didn't feel right...

It was the lack of control that made me uneasy. I submitted my project but then I wasn't sure if someone was working on it or not. I saw the automatic payments get sent from my account every day but I wasn't sure if the work was being done, or how, no way to check how much work is being done daily or how the is it done to see if it's good value or not. Also after I sent my project I had no idea about the TAT so no way to know if my project would take a week or a year to be completed and that also made me a bit nervous.

It may work well for others, but I just didn't feel comfortable working with a middle man instead of the freelancer itself because of the lack of control.
