SEO is still alive and going as its speed, now about directory. Directory Submission is not worth today to make quality links because google down its priority as business listing website platform.

Yes - local (established) directories are Good. Info there should match the info at Google My Business.

.. but only the ones whose business model is Not selling links

Only Directories with Traffic searching for some products are effective . submitting unnecessarily on directories which are only there for seo purpose is useless.

local Classified Sites are gold now a days you'll get alot of relevant traffic from there only.

Yes they are effective if you do in proper manner after watching spam score of website and Should be Index , So that you can benefit with that backlink

Directories are still effective but not all of them.The truth is that most of the directories out there are spam and of very low quality.However quality directories are still effective and i have seen websites still ranking on the first page only with directories links.

you should submit your site to directories where people search for some business not on isolated directories which are made for seo purpose only.

Directories are still a better way to get quality traffic if you're submitting in a right directory not the spam one's who only focus on getting you a backlink.
