Is 'Only First Link' on a page to same destination counted by Google?

Can anyone confirm this?

I read somewhere that if a page has more than one link to the same destination url then Google(bot) will only count the first link it finds, disregarding further examples to that same url.

Additionally;

If this is in fact the case there appears to some conjecture as to whether that counts for links with 'different anchor text', i.e. multiple links to the same url but using different anchor text - some say that different anchors mean that it is a different link, others say that the bot looks at the destination url as the signal.

Any thoughts on this subject will be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure all links count, however, multiple instances of links to the same page each count less and less each time.

So let's say first link passes 90% link juice, then second link would only pass 70% juice, then 50%, etc... Obviously nobody knows the real numbers.

It wouldn't make sense to only count first instance because you could legitimately have a need to link to the same page multiple times if the page covers multiple topics or subjects.

Since there's no detailed answer to this question from Google, I prefer focusing on the first link (anchor optimization, context, etc.). Though I believe all links count one way or another. As far as I remember, Matt Cutts told it works as @KingZen described.

There is nothing like that it depends on the nature of backlink. If its looks spam avoid getting backlinks more then one.
