I personally think Twitter success depends massively on your niche

One thing I've learned with Twitter is it's not great for direct selling. They aren't in what I refer to as "buying mode" - people aren't in that mindset when reading tweets. They're there to read, learn and see what's going in the world. They aren't there to buy a new games console.
