Banned Hashtags?

I've only just recently discovered that there are "banned" and "flagged" hashtags on IG. And if you over use some of these in your posts, this is what leads to shadowbans. This would explain why some of my accounts have been getting shadowbanned.

My question is: How are we supposed to know what's banned or flagged before posting?

What is your current hashtag strategy?
Do you use some online tool to help generate relevant hashtags for your post?

What about using the current top trending hashtags in your post that has nothing to do with your content? Is that still going to be good?

I'm thinking of using some tools where you just upload any photo and it analyses what the photo is about and returns hashtags related to that image - however what if some of those hashtags are banned or flagged?

I'm not sure which ones specifically are banned, but I would strongly recommend that you only post hashtags that are relevant to your post. Not only because IG is more likely to let you keep skating by longer, but also because users who see your post are gonna be a lot less likely to take you seriously and/or become a lead (or share your stuff) if they see a bunch of random hashtags on everything that have nothing to with your content.

Quality first. Quality first. Quality first. I'm telling you. Build trust, authority, in everything you do, even the automated things... don't be okay with being okay. Be the best! Good luck, man. :)

I think I'm going to not use any hashtags at all for a month and see what happens. I'm 90% sure this is why I got shadowbanned since I was using a lot of hashtags that made no sense to the image but had a lot of exposure.

What's best? A lot of hashtags in the post or a little, but essentially? And is there a quantitative limit?

What is your current hashtag strategy?

Max 10 hashtags per post, all describing what's on the picture and all with a search volume of about 15% of my current followers number.

In a word, NO!

First and foremost, the hashtags should 100% relate to what's on the photo - by this, you can get more organic likes and follows as people looking for those hashtags will see your content is relevant.

From my own experience, though, I would avoid staking up the maximum amount of 30 per each post. I've noticed that the fewer hashtags I put (all of them being relevant and size-wise matching my account), the easier it is to rank for them in the "Top Posts" section.

I think that the more hashtags you put in the post, the more IG doesn't know which one describes the photo the most and therefore it's more difficult to get in the Top Posts feed for the majority of them.

Try it out and let me know if you see any difference!

Could you tell us more about relevance and size-wise matching your account?

Yes, there are banned hashtags. If you consistently look for the most popular hashtags and attach them to your posts, even though your post has nothing to do with them, they will "shadowban" your account. Also, they've stated in news media that there are certain hashtags that they are suppressing and/or banning. Some examples of banned/suppressed hashtags on insta and facebook are anything related to the anti-vax movement. Basically, anything that FB doesn't agree with will be suppressed.

Relevance - basically if you post a picture with a hot girl, you don't use hashtags like #sexyman #cuteman #handsomeman etc. You focus on hashtags describing your picture only.

Matching your account's size with the volume of your hashtag - if you have just 1,000 followers, you should avoid hashtags with millions/hundreds of thousands of usages. My followers' base is around 15% of the hashtag volume I'm targeting - therefore I have a bigger chance of ranking my post high for it.

So if I have few subscribers, then I need to select less popular hashtags? For example, if I have 1000, then I select the hashtag with the popularity of 6000 - 7000?

Can you please tell me where can I find this blacklist?

Here is some stuff I found on a recent Google search:
https://www.bet.com/style/2017/04/17/here-s-the-full-list-of-hashtags-banned-from-instagram.html
https://markitors.com/banned-instagram-hashtags-2019/

Also there is a ban that may not be officially published, but they are also pulling posts and penalizing accounts for posting anything that is not an "USA left wing political" or "main stream media" approved topic. So anything that contradicts them or proves them wrong or even offers a differing viewpoint falls under this. Kind of like "Double Secret Probation" from Animal House.

Heck, even Google was shown to have been manipulating searches during our mid-term elections to favor Democrat candidates!

And this is only 2017/2018 year...

I think now forbidden hashtags are much more. And even some safe words are blocked:(
