Making Money Is Hard

Honestly, making money online is tough. For 6 months, I've been writing articles on and off for two niches sites. I've written over 50,000 words with a good amount of research.

Do you know how much money I made? $0.

Maybe my writing sucks; I'm trying to improve on making my readers get excited about a product since the only way I can make money is if they make a purchase.

There's one small glimmer of hope which is one of my pages ranks on the first page for a very long tail keyword. Small traffic but it's the first time I've gotten real clicks registered on Google Search Console.

The toughest part isn't even pushing through. It's not knowing whether what you're doing is moving the needle. I code during the day and it's easy to know when I'm wrong. I simply run the program and then instantly I'll know if my code is working or not. With affiliate marketing, it seems like I'm walking through this endless tunnel and I constantly pivot directions wondering if I'm heading toward the light.

For experience affiliate marketers, can you impart any wisdom?

Give it 18 more months. And are you just writing a bunch Articles? If so how many words are your articles?

No,actually I`ve been banned because of niche/spam on Google but rank pretty nice on Bing

maybe your way is not that good, you have written 50 000 words ok, but if you split them in little articles of 500 words each it will be not enought, start to write articles of 2000 words and optimize your internal links, you will have better results.

Like you I have started affiliated marketing 3 months ago and with this methods, I'm making 100 dollars / month but I expect more later because my sites are not very well rank for the moment

IM is a frustrating thing, sometimes its better to give up than end up frustrated and feeling down. Money isnt everything in life, there are also other things. Its better to work as a freelancer for someone, at least you know that at the end you will get paid for your work.

I rank 1 website a few months ago with spun content on Bing and Yahoo; content is not king, but the queen; the king is link building and the prince is the keyword.

People often underestimated keyword research.

Pick wrong keyword and you wonder why you can't rank or even if you rank your campaign is not profitable.

And...because if you do keyword research right, you don't need to build links to rank.

to get your website on #1 on google or any other it is not so hard if you use low competitive and long tail keywords
Any newly created website, with good content, will be in TOP3 on google for the first couple of days

but after some weeks you will notice that your rank will go down and just your "QUALITY CONTENT" will be equal to ZERO and will not help you at all to keep your rank position

Content is the king is the biggest lie of this SEO Time now. I remember, how badly written (basically re-written) with a lot of grammatical mistakes article ranked above the authority websites. Reason? They made backlinks.

It's kinda biased that Google values SEO metrics (Backlinks and all that) over the content.

Of course, they want to show relevant results.

I don't like this too. It's good for the users but Google itself doesn't generate any content. It picks up from the websites which we make or the Wikipedia which is massively made possible by a lot of contributors. And, suddenly they show that hardwork on their page on the top without any enough credibility (which could hardly make you bunch of unique page views as more of the people would close the tab after reading here, forget about $0.01 in their poor AdSense CPM).

I strongly believe, we need Google's alternative haha. There should be some neck to neck competition.

Content is King only when you know something which Google have no history of knowing what so over. And, it's valid on any of the Google's Rank Based Platform: Google Search and YouTube both.

Some Content Ideas:

> Solve Problem which are known but never thought of solving. (Just like pharmacy companies do to make profits).

> Give tutorial over something which might make life more easier. (Good for Video, but maybe someone wants to read text).

> Write the unique news related to your local city and not the whole country. I daily read news specific to my city. A lot of people does. Many have turned their blogs into the real magazines too.

> Not sure about this new, but work on the niches in the upcoming trend. There used to be a huge trend of making blogs about the movies/shows which are upcoming. But that required a lot of backlink stuff too.

50k words is quite a bit of content. Are you sure your keyword research is spot on? I would start by picking up a basic course on keyword research.

That you've written gazillions of words on thousands of sites doesn't mean you've written them well enough to rank on search and attract search visitors.

6 months is still very much early/young. I took longer before I made my very first $50 paid to my payoneer. That was my first earning from blogging and that was in the year 2015, but I started blogging late 2013.

Doing something is one thing, doing it well is totally another different thing.

You can reduce the number of articles you've been writing maybe improve the ones you have already. This is because articles that don't get read are totally useless as the aim of writing them have been defeated.


If you're good at writing you can consider doing a few freelance writing for people so you can get some money from that to support your sites in either SEO or social media promotion etc.. anything that'll promote your sites and attract users to it. I do freelance writing for a few people, even though I earn a few $$.

If you continue writing from now till next 10 years without changing anything, I doubt anything good will come out.
Do somethings differently and see results, because it's only a madman that'll continue doing a particular thing the same way and still expects a different result.

I assume you don't understand how to drive traffic, this is not a negative nor a bad thing. Just something you should consider.

I don't know what you had tried in the past but maybe try to have social profiles and be active there to drive traffic to your website. For instance you could use twitter to join conversations and thus increase your followers on twitter then link the page to your website. Although building twitter, IG, FB groups etc. takes time another few months to get the ball rolling.

I guess I haven't explored social media as traffic source, so I definitely agree with you there. Right now I'm focusing on trying to rank on Google. I just think that is a very good skill to have but same could be said for media. Thanks for the input yellowdot.

why not try ecommerce? selling physical products, like dropshipping

I think drop shipping is super overrated. If I wanted to go down this path, I would go the whole 9 yards and actually build a product and not just look for ways to sell cheap chinese products. I'm also not trying to fall for the shiny ball syndrome. I want to be successful as an affiliate marketer and I want to focus on that for couple years.

You got this, don't worry. Things won't always kick off straight away or always work out but keep up the hard work, and spend a lot of time thinking about it and you'll get to where you want to be one day.

Content won't rank you. You can write the best researched and deepest and longest content ever and it won't bring you a dime.

Now, when you have content, go read about link building, build the links same as you write your content and you will see bucks rolling in.

Nah, I don't read Neil Patel. I just use common sense. Sure, links are important but pushing out genuine content that helps the readers should increase in traffic over time. Think about it, does the New York TImes ever build links? No they report on ground breaking news in a pulitzer prize winning fashion. There are a ton of websites where you look at their link profile, you'll see no PBN's and yet they rank in millions of dollars based on CPC for the keywords they rank in.

People are overly obsessed with links here. I bought a link package here on BHW from a top seller and it didn't increase my traffic by 1 click. I did get 200 more impression on Google reported via Google Search Console.

With all that being said, I'm always willing to be wrong. I'll try building out links on this site. Thanks for the honest input.

NYTimes is a news website, they don't need to build links, it's like comparing an autonomous plane with a bicycle. And of course you won't see PBN's, do you think million dollar company will use some outdated shit called PBN? naah man, they are way ahead of 99% SEOers and PBN's are so 2010

And buying random links from BHW is like buying a car for 100$ which is at India and you are at Europe thinking you are buying Rolls Royce, but in the end, they were advertising only engine lol.

Again, you can make the best content ever, but without marketing, you won't get anywhere. Remember, you are nothing, your site is nothing in the big wide world web, whilst those million dollar CPC rankers are in the top 100 websites ever

You need to learn your place, you need to understand that no one cares that you have great content because no one knows who the ef are you. The only way to get proper rankings without buying links is to make a brand or a name out there. Let people know who are you. But trust me, it's easier to build links

What about being a freelancer? You can write for other blogs or do reviews and offer your services. I don't know how well you write or research, but I'm sure there is someone who could use your writing services.

There's huge difference between you and NYT. It's called authority.

And how do you build authority site? LINKS. Quality links.

Maybe make that your side hustle and focus on providing content for other people in the meantime. For 50 000 words, even as low as 3$ per 100 words if your content is actually good you would have made a nice amount.

Just like others suggest I also said "contents only isn't a king" we have to have King's cabinets y'know and the proper link building and research in this time are the cabinets no king can succeed without them so I think a written article can't win the war without proper seo
