Good on ya man! Slave jobs and alcohol is not the road to a happy life, at least not for me.
The key for me was to not search for nor rely on motivation, but to just be disciplined and have consistency. Do the work, no matter if I felt like or not. Feelings are not of any use.
I wish you all the best and hope you get a full time income from your projects soon!
I used to work at a construction site and it can be very hard on mind and body, plus the travelling. I fully understand that one don't have the time or power to get a side business going if they do 12 hour shifts at a construction site.

I don't know exactly what he did at the construction site, but I assume that you have never worked at one. It's easy to say that it's "only an hour" after work if you have never done the work yourself. You only got that "it's just an excuse" from those gurus that you read books from and watch on Youtube. You gave up a steady job to work on your dream full time because you couldn't find enough time from a 12hr shift. Not being able to find an hour each night to work on your skills, network or get a portfolio brewing is and was just an excuse.
