Depends what you already know.
Personally I think you learn so much from just spending a few $$ on your niche to see what happens.

I have read these blogs. What I have experienced in past is that I launched a couple of ads, but saw very less engagement. I ran through checklists like these, but it didn't improved.
Maybe, I am being too conservative. I had success in some of the Facebook ads, but I would rather attribute that success to the obviousness of the audiences.
But, let's say if I were to launch a new ad for an ebook, I wouldn't be 100% sure (I recently tested 3 times and didn't had a success). Since, we all have limited budgets for testing and iteration, for me it isn't more than $200 that I can spend on my testing. I was rather looking for a way to do this on a small scale and still be able to learn.
Let me know if this isn't the right way to move forward. I can probably up my spending
