Windows AntiVirus

No antivirus will speed up your computer.

Add some RAM, change to an SSD hard drive or consider disk cleanup/disk defragmenter. If you do think you have malware, Windows Defender should do the job - it's already installed and likely working unless you have disabled it or downloaded 'free_money.exe'.

Best antivirus is Windows Defender. Its totally free + not RAM hungry. Get WinDefender and then scan your laptop every week with MalwareBytes free version. And you're all set
This is EXACTLY what I do. Malwarebytes in my years of experience is the BEST

Avira if you want the software not to slow down your system ....

If your laptop is getting slow, try upgrading to a SSD + more RAM (but not more than 8gb.. it's mostly a waste if you have more than 8gb and don't do graphics/ram intensive tasks). As for antivirus, you have a lot of options. I personally prefer Nod32 ( have been using it for the past 5-6 years).

But as av choice, I am using malwarebytes pro version, Doing a good job and its light weight.
