Go for KAV. It does some decent job similar to the KIS. I have been using it for the past 3 years and never faced a problem.

Best option is change your OS to WIN 7 or WIN 10 Both will be fast than WIN 8
If you want to keep the same OS, then
Uninstall the unwanted applications on your laptop that you don't use.
And then you can use the kaspersky or k7 antivirus.

Try the free version of BitDefender. Its not super memory intensive, but it does use a bit of it. However, I like it because it will block malicious programs and most known coin miners. You don't get that with many other AV programs.

kaspersky is too heavy, depending on the pc
malwarebytes if very good and wont take much resources
avira has the best malware detection so its up to you

Why the hell on Earth would you use Win 8 though? Win 10 or Win 7 are both better.
