Of course it's ugly, it's a thirty year old design. It's not even that ugly imho, there were uglier designs after this in the 90s.

There was no address bar, so if you wanted to go to a site, you needed to do the following:

1. Launch the WorldWideWeb browser.
2. Select "Document" from the menu on the side.
3. Select "Open from full document reference".
4. Type a URL into the "reference" field.
5. Click "Open".

You needed to double-click on links.

This is how it worked back then.
