So I was trying to purchase a 4 letter Instagram username from a random guy on Instagram. We agreed to reach a deal wherein I would make the payment and he would give me the account having the username, which he did. I had already typed the username in my personal thinking I would release it from the account and secure it within a second from my personal. But little did i know that as soon as i released it, it would already be acquired by some other account with a span of millisecond. I later discovered a new account with the username popped up and the same guy texted me from that account and mocked at me. I was scammed. i think he had done some kind of scripting or programming to acquire the username as soon as it was released. How did he do it? i want to know. I'm a newbie, please forgive me if i made a mistake or ask dumb questions. Thanks

I assume there are bots constantly searching and looking for best available names and grabs it before you....ORR the username goes back into some kind of username pool which takes a while to become available again. Either way, that's shitty.

You just got turboed my friend. There are programs out there that can check the availability of a name like 100 times a second or some bullshit.

If the deal sounds too good to be true then it usually is.

It definitely didn't go to the pool since the person sent me a screenshot of what looked like a shell window which checked the availibility of the username and he typed some command to "Stop" searching for it. I just want to know how exactly its done.
