Local Bitcoin Dispute

I recently opened a trade with a seller who trades bitcoin for amazon gift cards on local bitcoin. The guy takes my card details and then turns around saying that it was already redeemed. The guy has a very suspicious account and I know I was really stupid to enter a trade with him. I just oped a dispute against him, but there is no substantial proof for both sides. My account has just a few trades on it, was created 6 months ago and has identity phone and email confirmed. I attached his profile. My question is what are the chances that I ever see any of my money again.

Do you have information on where this guy lives or his real identity? I would call the police and make a report.

I have nothing and I've reported the card stolen to amazon, they said they can't replace because its already claimed. All I could get out of them was he used an account with the first name fauk. I also looked up his username and theres nothing.

Never trade with unknown seller in localbitcoins with amazon gift cards. There are people who are doing the same way.

Only amazon can able to help. Did you bought amazon gift card from local or online?

I bought the card at a store. I usually trade in gift cards with trusted sellers, but this time I got greedy when I saw the good price.

If they are a scammer then they most likely have most of their tracks covered. You will most likely have to put a ton of effort to try to catch the guy again. It's not impossible but it's fairly unlikely.

How much coin did you lose, and more importantly, how much is your time worth? Sometimes it's best to cut your losses on focus on the future.

I'm sure some savvy internet sleuths could track this guy down. But as others have said, scammer knows the game well, and probably covered tracks quite well.

I don't think he was a very smart scammer because local bitcoins just decided in my favor and after I reported the gift card stolen amazon support said that they would take action on the person who redeemed it.

Contact amazon Store and get all the necessary document attached to the trade.

Sometimes perfectly good accounts get sold or stolen or the 100% feedback guy goes rogue. If the rate seems too good to be true in comparison to everyone else then that already is a big red flag to avoid that person and try to stick to small circle of trusted buyers/sellers.

Sometimes perfectly good accounts get sold or stolen or the 100% feedback guy goes rogue. If the rate seems too good to be true in comparison to everyone else then that already is a big red flag to avoid that person and try to stick to small circle of trusted buyers/sellers.

I think he faked all his feedback because the account was only 1 week old but had 100+ confirmed trades.

93% feedback score
and 0.5btc trade volume

when i make a deal in localbitcoins, i always make a deal with seller/buyer that have over 3000+ confirm trade, 100% feedback score and 100+ btc trade volume..

You're 100% right it was pretty stupid, I don't often use local bitcoins so I over valued the verified identify.

Thanks for your response, the case qas resolved in my favor 24 hours after I opened the case. I don't know why, but I assume he had multiple open cases.
