Is betting considered IM?

Sorry, I don't see how betting can be compared to IM. Actually this is insulting for every hard working IM entrepreneur, who is working 10 hours or more per day. In bets you can try to learn as much as you want. In the end its not up to you whether you are successful or not. It is not predictable...and if its predictable the odds are shit.

hmmm, I wouldn't say it is insulting in any way. The system I'm part of, we actually get people from FB and IG, so not that far from "usual" IM.

I agree though that betting isn't real IM

For a number of years that's how I made my 'online money' I was active on a number of forums back in 1999/2000 ( don't ask which ) and the great advantage if you're UK based is it's tax free as it's not 'earned income'.

People however often confuse betting with gambling.
Pls educate me a bit, I am one of those people. What is the difference?

Betting is not IM.

But, there's definitely a demand for it due to threads I've seen. It does seem like most people have a misconstrued idea about it and its money making potential though.

I suppose you’re right, but what would you discuss in those threads? What kind of advice can people who bet on sports pass along to each other? Aside from knowing about the sport you’re betting on, what kind of a skill set is necessary for entering the field professionally? Do you see what I mean? It’s a bit difficult to define these things. But I’d love to see it happen, just out of curiosity

You can discuss various things. For instance someone from England can share his knowledge about the English premier league. From that you can select the teams for your bet. Asides from that, there is some skills bet masters use to balance their spending in worst conditions. I am new to betting and I am ready to learn. That's why I believe opening a section would be cool.

That sounds great. You could say that people who place bets for a living are similar to stock market brokers. Both are essentially making informed guesses about a field they’re knowledgeable about. And you’re right, a forum would be the ideal place to get into it and learn more about it. Nice addition.

We have a crypto section.. why not a betting one? Same fucking thing actually more of a gamble on crypto, at least with traditional betting you can check teams stats and history etc, crypto on the other hand, well...

I love betting, make a good chunk of change from it monthly.. although it’s more for fun than a source of income.

@Society Girl @MisterF Look at these responses! People are down to have a betting section.
Actually IM means Internet Marketing and betting doesn't require Marketing activities. That being said, I guess people here don't bet that often or if they do they don't publicly post about it. Also I don't think the topic breaks any rules on the forum so why not.

I don't think betting is IM at all.

But if the foum opens a section, I'd be fine with it.

The way we do it, it's IM. So I'd be down to have an extra section to share some knowledge :)

I'd be down for a betting section!

I don't want one. I don't think it's IM.

I just said I wouldn't think it was necessarily wrong if admins decided to, because it's about making (losing more than making) money.

As @t0mmy mentioned above it's less risky than Crypto...... Yet we have a Crypto sub forum.

Also a big disclaimer about the risks of gambling etc would be a good move too.

Cryptos can be a form of payment for IM. Gambling can't. Some sellers sell services for cryptocurrencies, so it's marginally of interest to IM'ers

Cryptocurrencies are a volatile form of currency. Gambling isn't at all related to IM that I can see, not even remotely IMO.

Just my 2 cents.
