[Method] Simple Content Writing for Newbies (and Oldies!)

So, I thought I would write a little guide that is easy to follow and may help some folk write pieces for their sites. This is not copied from someone else's (or on the www) article or anything like that, it is just something I do everyday when writing posts for my sites.

Who is it good for?

• People that write their own content but do not know where to start.
  
• Those that get writers block after writing the first word!
• People that can't afford to outsource when starting out
• People that just want to learn how to write their own, fresh content.

Why am I writing this?

1 - Because I have been a member here for many years and would like to give a little something back to the forums.

2 - I have been helped on BHW many times and it should be give and take should it not?

3 - Because I have been asked quite a few times how I write articles and how I get started especially.

NOTE - Spelling and grammar are important in your posts/articles/pages etc. So a tip is to ask a natural speaker of the language you are writing in to check your work. Don't take criticism to heart if someone is trying to help you! I am not pretending to know all, or include, everything about content writing. There are some great posts on BHW and sellers too....this is just my little contribution so it may help someone but not everyone!

Choosing a topic

So you have just bought your shiny new URL and installed Wordpress or similar and ready to get going on your site......but you have no idea what you want to write?

Firstly - DO NOT be tempted to copy content from another site - if that's your bag then move on from this post and look in the other sections of BHW.

Think:

• What is the content topic you are writing about?
• 
  
• What are you selling? What are your visitors wanting? What is your website about?

Example:

Your website is : Immakingmoneysellinggames.cim

So you pages and posts need to be around games.

Let's say that the content, a post, I want is about a new game called "BHW"

I work to this plan.

I want a MINIMUM of 1000 words (yep you need to actually do some work here!)

I think about my title first (this can always be re written) and my keyword focus.

Example Title "New Game BHW Released 2019 - FREE BHW Demo Available!"

So I have my title based around my key term "Free BHW Demo"

I then need to think about the main content. If 1000 words sounds daunting then it won't in a minute!

I break the content down into sections:

• First 250 words will be about "The Release of BHW and What's it about"
  
• Second 250 words will be about "What's the good points of BHW and the Gameplay"
  
• Third 250 words will be about "What the reviews say about BHW"
  
• Fourth 250 words will be about "Conclusion - why you should try the demo!"

Ah, so you still worried about how you will 'think' about the content? You research the topic and find and article or content that you like and put it into your own words - completely rewritten. Never copied.

Example:​

Original site content (obviously just a small section for an example and it's my writing):

"I have found out that the release of BHW the game is released in February 2019 and have to say that I am very excited! The game is suppose to be amazing with some great graphics and will even run on my i3 laptop with zero graphics card which is just amazing. I can't wait for it to be released as the critics say that its going to be the biggest selling game of all year!"​

So what I do is read the content, then close the page straight away (minimise it) and start imagining that I am telling a friend what I have just read in my own words. This means you will not write exactly the same thing but, instead, you will write it in your own style.

Example:​

"The game of the year to be, BHW, is to be released very soon in February of 2019. The content of the game is still unknown although critics have stated that is going to be amazing. What will make this game great is that people can play BHW on the lower spec computers..........."​

......and so on.

If the topic is something completely new to you then just read a few articles on the topic and then try imaging you are telling that friend about the subject - you will find that you naturally start to write better articles because you are not copying nor trying to write like some excellent writer - just be natural and be you!

So plan:

• What is your content about?
• Use the keyword/phrase to form a title.
• Breakdown your content into sections of smaller worded groups so 1000 words is not too scary.
• Read a couple of article about your subject matter and stop staring at the screen and start wiring straight away before you forget.

Last hints:

Forget about spelling and grammar if you're not too good at that - leave it to the end or until you can get someone to check it. It's important to get your content down straight away and then check it after, changing anything you need.

Don't try and over think how your keywords fit into your article - do this when you have finished writing. There is nothing worse for reading and SEO if you spam your content with the keyword - do it naturally afterwards.

Make sure you have some external and internal links within your article (not too many) that link naturally to your site posts/pages (there's plenty of posts in BHW on this)

Have fun writing! Don't be scared to indulge in your creative sides - everyone can write, it's just failing that we do far to easily - don't be the 99% that give up!​

I hope that this helps someone (maybe just one person!) get a little bit more creative and find writing a little easier.

Sure Some folk love the "Chop it up" method although this sometimes fail as the rewrite is not good enough for some. Some need to learn how to just get started first, then look at methods like that to feed into their creativity
