How are you guys accepting payments for SEO? Has anyone dealt with disputes with your merchant?

Im thinking of taking on a client with a decent monthly budget but im worried if they dont hit certain sales numbers months later that they want, they could just charge it back months later. Yes i of course would be clear about not promising anything... but ive had things go south with startups more than once as the CEO will lie to their investor or mislead them.

Asking for a check sent every month could also lead to a lower retention with the client, so im curious to hear any of your stories.

I am in a similar situation and will try 2checkout instead of pp. PP isn't friendly this days.

Yeah... i never accept paypal. Even credit cards... if you get 4k/month account... they can just charge that back in 6month.. 24k in a day dispute. No thanks. So just trying to figure out something. Thinking of asking for post dated checks upfront?

I work with more savvy companies, so I accept crypto then sell it for paypal on my own :)

I've had that 6 month charge back myself and it surely sucks but no business person in their right mind will give you post dated checks upfront.

Monthly ACH or checks works fine if you are not comfortable with PP/2C0, Etc.

Some people are just crummy and when their business goes south they just want to recoup and invested dollars. Ive pulled off much crazy things than post dated checks lol! But thanks i dont want to make them uncomfortable either. It is nice to have them auto billed via CC monthly, when you ask them to put a check in the mail monthly for thousands they start to feel it so i guess this one wont last past 6 months. Thanks!

Some people get freaked out by ACH for whatever reason when i've tried that. Then the whole "well why cant you just take CC" comes in and i cant say... well because i dont trust you haha

I actually have a client that insists on a monthly check which is more a pain than anything as our bank is 15 miles from where we are but I'll take his money that way if he insists.

I just deposited a few today via the chase app! Best thing ever.

What are the fees on ACH? Can someone do anything with that information? For whatever reason clients seem to make it like i can take more out of their account or something. I've never done ACH so i have no idea.

For more expensive products and services, only wire transfers. You can go with Transferwise, Skrill and N26 (they both support transferwise fast transfers).
If you don't want such services, always you have SWIFT.

We work with a small private bank as they handle a few other things for us you won't get from a typical commercial bank. The personal accounts have those apps though and it is super nice.

Better yet we have this with one of those banks:

Inside the USA they are negligible and we pay them on behalf of the client.

For smaller and riskier clients I stick with full-service packages, with contracts specifying that I retain ownership in case of non-payment.

It's easy for a sketchy business owner to justify a chargeback for a non-reversible SEO service, but they'll be a little more reluctant to do so if it also means forfeiting their entire online presence.

im going to start putting that in all contracts even if they pay via check lol! Put a little pep in their step on way to the bank.

It only works if you set up the domain and hosting yourself and retain admin access. If it's nothing more than an additional line in the contract that cannot be enforced outside of court, you may as well go after the money directly.
