Is Chrome this bad now?

Did you check if you have the same IP with others? Captcha won't prompt if you don't vising unwanted sight, you pretty sure you're the only one using the internet? About the Chrome, you must check your RAM. Remember the chrome is a ram hugger, the more you have, the more it hugs it. You know what I mean if you're techsavvy. I suggest you go on incognito mode, much precise than the other.

I have a Ipv4 IP. This is a fiber internet. It is not a dedicated private IP from my ISP.

UPDATE - So the problem was not chrome. The opening aka the crawling to new pages was being delayed by the awesome Bit defender 2019.

It deeply scans every URL and the web pages before letting the browser open. I turned off those options and every page is opening in the blink of my eye. But bit defender shows Online Threat Prevention is disabled in RED.

What you call a bug, they call it a feature. Consider using something else for protecting your system, which doesn't effect the browsing experience. Online threat prevention is the part of almost any other antivirus system these days. I don't recall having such issue with ESET.

What the hell is going on with chrome and google?

1. Opening google.com is not instant despite having a smooth internet. Crawling takes around 2-3 seconds despite having a smooth internet.

2. FB and any other pages take around 2-3 seconds to open.

3. Overall crawling is slow and bad nowadays.

4. Almost every time I am hit with - We detected an unusual activity so please solve this stupid google captcha in order to proceed.

The extensions that I'm using are ublock, privacy badger, https everywhere, nano defender and grammarly.

I did reset the router and I changed DNS to open dns, cloudfare dns and now back to google dns but same thing.

Please advise how to solve this thing and if I need to move onto another browser for getting back the smoothness? What other browser is fast and good?

40 Mbps. Ping to gateway is within 2 ms to 3 ms.

It is, i've never had a serious infection in the 15 years for i'm using it.

Actually Chrome is not that simple browser now as before it was. It takes a lot of RAM (2GB at least) and good amount of CPU processing. I think, any machine that is running on same hardware as back in 2013 aren't quite compatible with latest Chrome version. I am too facing such problems.

So what browser do you recommend for 2GB RAM laptop? Don't wanna spend money to upgrade yet.

2 GB RAM? That's not enough to properly run a modern OS these days, let alone using any browser. You can't cheap out on this, you need to double it at least, but if you want a flawless experience, you'll need 6-8 GB RAM. You can find 4 GB modules on eBay for a few bucks, if you have two slots, add it to your 2GB and it will make a real difference.

With 2GB RAM you'll face a lot of headaches regardless browser, it just doesn't worth it.

Use adblock, but I have McAfee which protects

I had similar issue, but browser was not slow.

this type of issue often comes from shared IP, if you're using shred IP then change it.

I see some people said that chrome uses 2GB of ram. Well I am using a chromium browser (Comodo Dragon) and its barely using any ram. I think around 350 MB of ram.

I can't believe blackhatters use it at all.

Every browser engine renders things differently, so sticking with only one browser could cause issues for a major portion of your audience. This is less of an issue now that the Blink (Chromium) engine powers all the major browsers except Safari and Firefox, but still something to consider.

Also, Brave is just a lightly modified Chromium, so you're still using a Google-developed product...

Brave has full access to the standard Chrome web store, syncing is cross-compatible with Chrome and Chromium, etc.

I would strongly recommend against using Safari on Windows. The last published version is from 2012, it has zero security updates whatsoever, and it should only be used for checking your own code for Apple-specific rendering issues.

No solution I found yet. Just what I do - I don't open more 3 tabs at a time, and use Skype on my mobile. However, still opening a single word or excel file takes a lot of time while chrome is running.
