Non-IM/Business book recommendation

Any good, entertaining book that you would recommend?

If to set a preference, I would like something in the area of thriller, crime/true crime, horror, journalistic expose, non-fiction, or fiction that is based somewhere in the real world.

At the moment, I want to read The Shining and Doctor Sleep by Stephen King and Good Omens. I really enjoyed reading The God Father by Mario Puzo.

Comics/graphic novel recommendations are welcome! :)

I am not averse to fantasy or sci-fi but I am feeling true crime vibe right now.

Monsters, fight club or the short story called Guts

The stranger by Albert Camus is also good.

Funny you should recommend this because I am a fan of Chuck Palahniuk! Invisible Monsters and Fight Club was great. I haven't read Guts yet so sounds like that will be on my list too!

The Stranger was an interesting piece! I have read it like 10 years ago, haha.
 
God's Debris by Scott Adams if you like thought experiments, Games People Play by Eric Berne if you're into psychology, The Plague by Albert Camus if you're into drama and existentialism, The Shortness of Life by Seneca if you're into stoicism and philosophy, Ningen Shikkaku by Osamu Dazai if you're into classics.

If manga/anime instead of books is okay too, I think Monster, Pluto, Shingeki no Kyojin and Hideout are excellent.

Ohhhh, @lacifitra, I am liking the vibe of your recs. I really have to get into Japanese classics, since I have the ability to read and understand them in its native format. Have you read works by Yuko Mishima? You might find his works (and the author himself) interesting.

If I may recommend manga as well, I think you might like Osamu Tezuka and his more serious works. :)

Thank you very much, kitty cat! :3 This Blinding Absence of Light sounds very interesting to me. Crime and Punishment as well as War and Peace are 2 titles of Dostoevsky that I would like to read!

Just a small correction bro war and peace is Tolstoy's work,
I missed to mention the name of book i couldn't find the English ones (Too bad most great works are not in english) story of sadako sasaki who was 2 years old when she got exposed to atomic bomb and fighting leukemia some Japenese myth or some nurse told her to make paper crane ,if someone makes paper crane they will get cured she died at age of 12 still children around the world sending paper cranes for sadoko,It was a great book if i could find a english version will send you the link .
 
If you like fantasy have a look at Darren Shan: Demonata. It's is my all time favourite book series. I also loved the Vampire series.

No need to send me an English version - I am bilingual Japanese. :) Thank you so much for the recommendation! Although I would think I am going to bawl my eyes out reading that book. I have been to Hiroshima (where the bomb dropped) and also the peace park when I was in elementary school and it has been one of the most memorable places I have ever been, albeit very heavy for a child to experience.

American Psycho was a great read! I liked it better than the movie :)

Guts is like a 5 minute read, can be found with a quick Google easily.

White Tiger by Arvind Adiga would feel right at home, although some cultural context would be lost (or gained by being exposed to it).
 
The Dark Half by Stephen King is incredible. As is anything by Michael Crichton and Dan Brown.

Haha I loved Darren Shan's series when I was younger, love the vampire series. All time favorite, I actually wrote to Darren Shan for my English class and he actually responded with a handwritten note. It was dope!

Just got done reading Yukio Mishima's The Sound of Waves, thank you for introducing me to this author. Unfortunately my Japanese is still quite bad, I've only just got the hang of basic Hiragana & Katakana so I'll have to continue reading German/English translations for now.

Oh, Oyasumi Punpun is a good manga too although it may be a bit too depressing for most people.

i guess you have read sherlock holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.I read books of the author Dan Brown and they are quite thrilling.
Hope you may like them.
