I just wanted to update this thread as it keeps me motivated and tells me that I need to get my butt in gear everytime I get distracted.
So here it is:
I had four meetings previously and added three others today so a total of seven meetings and just got done right now. I am writing this as I'm waiting for my uber
Meeting 1: They were problematic and asked me to show them a company registration because they wanted it professionally done. My argument was that I'm trying to set up a company but when that happens the prices I work around currently ($200-$500) will not exist. They'll go up significantly not to mention other logistical issues such as delivery of website has to be done through chamber of commerce since they want to make sure it's complaint etc.
Oh well, apparently they have a set budget and wanted the following:
A) formal education that says I'm certified to design websites
B) company registration
It didn't work out. I told them when I had the company, I shall contact them and do my best. (No point in burning bridges)
Money-$ 0
Meeting 2: I showed them the designs I'm capable of making and my articles that I had written about them beforehand. It was gruelling since it was detailed and I had to make it all cheery and happy ugh haha. Anyway, so they liked the designs and they had one condition. Apparently they were duped by someone in the past whereby the guy did the website but wouldn't give them the control logins of the hosting etc. I assured them by signing a document stating that all property of the restaurant will be exclusively of the restaurant's only. The agreement states that I get paid half now and half upon delivery of the website within a to me frame of 5 business days.
Money: $250 (first instalment)
Meeting 3: They wanted to see business cards ( I should've printed some ugh) and a company. They said due to legalities they cannot hire me. That's bullshit because there are no legalities that stops anyone from hiring a freelancer. It ended with a courteous smile and a firm handshake.
Money: $0
Meeting 4: This time it was a lady. She was eccentric but a lovely lady nonetheless. We got talking and one conversation lead to another which resulted in myself giving her a brief outline of my life. Being a woman I guess helped since she was in similar circumstance in life and there's nothing worse than picking yourself up every morning, looking around and seeing nothing but hungry mouths to feed around you. That's the sheer reality of life and one has to deal with it.
I got the gig!!!
Money: $300 ( entire package)
Meeting 5- They wanted an app done and didn't understand that I was offering. They didn't want just the website and I am not qualified to do an app. So that was no go :/
Money- $0
Meeting 6- I'll make this concise because we had alot of haggling since I was a freelancer. They went ahead with it but pricing was pretty bad. They said they'll get me to do other stuff if I do this right.
Money - $150 (something is better than nothing)
Meeting 7- I'm exhausted and fatigued at this point. The owner was a pig!!! He wanted to test me. He said to me," if you can write about my restaurant then tell me how you'll write it". I gave him the rundown but he wasn't happy. He made me eat some horrid grilled turkey escalope and I had to tell him my review right there and then. I am quite good with presenting my thoughts therefore it worked out well. I was honest because I couldnt give a shit a that point. Honesty helps and he hired me

I have to keep hustling because baby sitter costs are huge but I am confident I will do this. I am thankful for all your support and kindness. It's a shitty world out there and not an ounce of kindness is offered. I have to always remind myself to be kind to me, to take care of me first or else I cannot extend that to anyone around me either for business or otherwise.
I have emails to answer right now so plenty of work still needs to be done. Ah the joys of breaking your back lol.
