Hello there.
In June of this year, I set out to build a niche blog for running sports under wordpress. The goal is to establish a channel that can provide extra-work income. But the intermittent progress in the middle is not going well:
1. Running is my hobby. I had kept a continuous original update for more than a month, writing all the experiences I was interested in running, but I don't know how to connect them with Amazon's products.
2. Purchased an Amazon affiliate authority theme, which requires Amazon's API code to work, and applying for API code now requires three successful orders to get it. It looks like a dead end.
If the Amazon website is still a good opportunity for a newbie, what suggestions I can refer to at this stage, thank you!

No, there is no one else doing Amazon affiliate blog websites so its a good time to get into the business :D

for real tho, just search on Google for any keyword + review and you will see thousands and thousands of amazon affiliate sites.

Yes people are still doing Amazon affiliate website.
I'm doing it right now.

You can just apply to Amazon Associates and list your website, once you're approved just generate a link to a product or search page and place it on your website, when someone clicks the link and makes a purchase within 24 hours you will get paid, you don't need API etc.

Smartwatch, backpack, running shoes there lots of item you can test , promote but it's not an obligation you could write about a topic and add the amazon native shopiinsads or banner . You could create a small ebook or you could work with a member on the market place that would write it for you . After you can sell it , or give it for free collecting there email.

@Alexbigfish I bought an Amazon affiliate niche site from @thenonpareil . For a small amount of cash you have after a week you have a website with content and all you have to do is add Adsense and your Amazon affiliate link

It is a pain now they've changed the rules for api, you can use the contextual ads as they show relevant products

Yes. Before purchased the theme I should read the protocol first. It's okay I will try the old way later. THX

Just remember Amazon doesn't geotarget by default, so if you get worldwide traffic you'll need to apply to all the amazon locales and set up geotargeting.

It looks like your initial issues were addressed. But here is some more advice..

Amazon affiliate sites still certainly work, especially blogs where you come across as a real person. I highly recommend taking it to the "next level" if you want some more attention though....

For instance add some of the top traffic methods to link to your website.

Youtube videos, tutorials, guides, or just "help" your viewer somehow. This will guide them back to your website in the future.

Tip: If you're doing blog posts, actually have aim with them and focus on trending keywords or your product keywords. Or related topics that your audience is searching for.

Yes will do. Thank you.

But is it worth it in view of the low commissions? Can you make a living from it?

There are Amazon niche sites making tens of thousands of $ per month. Amazon converts like crazy on buyer intent keywords.

I would be curious to see some examples of niche sites that make a lot of money

The problem with that would be that then they wouldn't make much money for long right? with niche sites, the trick is to build and keep your mouth shut. Probably one of Amazon's biggest affiliates should be https://www.thewirecutter.com and https://www.thesweethome.com that the NYTimes bought for a pretty penny.

You can still make some good money but the importance of structured data and improving your reviews has increased greatly. The value of the content when it comes to length and quality (CTR due to RankBrain) is very high on these kind of review sites.

Thanks for this precision. Unfortunately (or fortunately I don't know), I'm not the New York Times
