Are you aware mods read the DMs here?

I just got a warning for replying to someone who solicited me a request.

I didn't even know it was a violation to reply to such things but... what i found most interesting here, they can read the DMs.

This old news to everyone?

Every forum as big as BHW needs to be moderated properly and the only way to do so is by having some filters setup in the backend.
I am sure mods go through everything here to make sure that such a huge platform is properly moderated.

Mods don't real all the DMs but when it comes to our attention that a member is violating the terms of service, such as buying and selling outside the acceptable areas of the platform, we do check if we have time.

I feel more safe knowing that mods are doing this. They are just doing their job to keep things good for everyone, methinks!

Phew, definitely did not realize that but I'm sure they have good intentions with it

I suspect some mods are taking it a step further by trying to moderate people in real life. I have this mod who always "randomly" pops up when I'm waiting on the train, when I'm in the shop and sometimes he is standing outside my flat. One time I saw him picking up a napkin I threw in the bin outside.

You missed the bin.

Next time be more careful.

But I now have your DNA ;)

I respect responsible moderation. And the ability for them to see this post and not be upset.
I just really wondered who knew

I thought it was common knowledge that people knew and to be honest it is sort of a pain to check them with the process we have to go through to do it.

Is it wrong if I ask what kind of "violating the terms of service" we are talking about here? Just to be sure what is/is not actually allowed to discuss with people through PM (mostly for requests coming from the HAF section)

Anything that is outside of this - https://www.blackhatworld.com/help/terms

If a member that has an upgraded membership responds to a HAF or WTB thread we rarely get notified there may be an issue but that does happen at times. We don't just willy nilly check PMs though as it is a bit of a pain + we check to see if there was a HAF or WTB post that someone is responding to before a warning.

You really have to look through history, threads and posts before issuing a warning for a violation via that involves misusing the PM benefit offered by the ownership here.

Often it's when members who are not upgraded try to sell goods / services, as an example.

It's easy on here, play by the rules and you're fine.

I understand that, but it is a little fuzzy when the selling/buying is linked to a HAF thread. BTB gave me the answer, thanks

some mod saw me bathing naked once, and since then he is asking me shave my butt hairs, i am highly uncomfortable doing so without his hand.
