In short. The best types of back links are ones that are contextual, from authority websites and are niche relevent and on a low obl page.

.gov and .edu backlinks can also be great for your backlink portfolio (as long as they are high quality links like a blog post and a contextual link within it to your site with the article being written about your niche.)

Even better if the backlink you receive also has links/shares pointing to that page (passed even more link juice/power). That's why homepage article links are so powerful.
