What should I be looking in websites so that my backlink from them will be strong?
DA, PA, Moz rank - ok. What else??
Are there bad backlinks?
Could there be a bad backlink from a high authority website?

• Make sure they have backlinks from trusted websites (you can use Majestic's TF for reference).
• Make sure the links are niche relevant.
• Make sure they have a clean and diversified anchor text profile. (No pharma/viagra kind of stuff)
• Generally, contextual links (surrounded by niche relevant content) tend to be more powerful.

All of these metrics are pretty much garbage, they can easily be manipulated. And they aren't google so they dont really matter.

If you are buying PBN links, make sure they are on clean domains..you can use metrics to filter through threads but the most important thing is that the domains are spam free and that they have solid links. Ask the sellers about the referring domains and what kind of links they have, make sure to ask questions so you dont end up getting bad links.

The non-Google metrics are NOT garbage, and thank GOD these metrics were developed, to make us less reliant on Google as a central reference for everything. TF or RD is not easily manipulated (although it can be manually built up), and PA/DA does not have to be as precise as Google to be useful.

The point is to use them as a generally reliable and current guide for basically knowing whether a site or page has decent authority, so they can become a building block for ranking. These metrics have made it much easier to build non-spammy links than in the Google PR days of old.

So using AHREFS UR metric (URL rating) for example would give me a much better indication than DA/PA/MOZ?

BTW - What would be the tool you guys reccomend to this analysis? AHREFS/Majestic/SEMRUSH or something else?

Never said RD is garbage but everything else is basically garbage, a site with one back link could have a TF of 35 and a site with a ton of healthy backlinks could have a TF of 5.

The point is dont get too crazy about metrics, they are just metrics. Some people go overboard and miss out on some great links, manually check domains for clean and healthy backlink profiles. What I prefer with PBNs is that they get some kind of traffic and have decent links, I couldn't care less about TF or DA

Neither of them but you should look at the quality of domain pointing(here you can trust the metrics) and also spam score
