Hi guys,

I am currently working for a client who wants to push down a negative article (major newspaper) from SERP #1. My client is from Europe and the content language is not English. The KW is his name and his name in combination with the company he works for. Both terms have a very low search volume (<100p.m.) and a very low KW-difficulty.

At the moment I'm working on a strategy paper which focuses on suppression tactics (new social media profiles, new quality content, videos, personal website with surname as domain etc.) and explanations how to achieve the goal. Unfortunately I don't have much experience in ORM so far and hence it is hard for me to estimate a duration for seeing results.

Could you guys help me? How long does it normally take under these circumstances to push down an article from an high authority domain?

Thanks in advance!
BR Jay

You dont have experience? Bad for your client. Well depend on authority of site. No one can give how much time unless you supply data.

Well I have experience in SEO, but this is my first ORM assignment. According to Ahrefs the domain rating is 87 and the URL rating of the article is 14.

What kind of data would need else to make a rough estimation?

One of my clients is in a similar position. In April/May, they hired someone for ORM who did the above. Some of those sites are on the first page, but the nasty articles are still stuck at the top, so they hired me for removal. When it comes to supressing negative articles, I prefer boosting existing results and generating new coverage using press releases. Depending on the particulars, it could be a few months.

Thanks for your comment! So to be on the safe side I should tell the client that he has to wait at least three to six months to expect results and even then there's no guarantee to suppress the negative articles to page 2 because of the high authority domain?

Because first of all it is important for me to cover my ass in this matter. I did not choose this client & task, I got assigned to do this. Therefore it is a risky situation for me if I do not deliver.

Without experience I would tell them 12 months. We usually estimate 3-12 months depending on all of the other factors. If you were able to get it off page 1 in 12 months, you should be proud!

find the path, back link it to known trojan sites and let ggl ai do its magic. the site visitors will be warned of potential virus alert from ggl regardless of the https , he/she will eventually be contacted by either surfers/ggl and his/her only way to get things rolling is to remove the article/link/etc. As for the wh approach you have written yes..content is king and you should be looking at a 6month turn around without me knowing how high up his/her page article/s have been aged. p.s. it helps if you begin building a battalion for net use.

I agree with these things:
1) Build content . Do press releases
2) Try to generate some reddit activity
3) Buy some reviews from a service provider like MSG ( $2.5 each, but can go a long way)
4) I'd contact the people who have the negtive review, see if it can be pulled down (show business owner has tried to fix issue)
5) if 4 doesn't work, then yeah, start unloading the 'bad vibes' on the page

To push down a major authority site, you will have to find several pages of equivalent authority to put your content on and build up, not just create a new property or profile here or there. Treat the name as a hard keyword and strive for editorial/premium links to overcome the power of the newspaper page.

You may have to write up a brief plan explaining the difficulties involved to the client, including realistic cost/time estimates (if you have to put $1,000 into getting new higher authority pages, or spend 12 months, then that's what is involved). But don't tell the client it will take just a few weeks and $200, if it will take far more effort and expense.

4 months if you know what you're doing or figure out what you're doing. Keep flooding positive content to push this down.
