E-commerce journey to build two brands

No, suppliers were sourced during my last visit to China not too long ago
Interesting. So you don't have to pay upfront since this is dropshipping? They just ship when you get an order...? Is this for private label goods?

They ship it to my order fulfillment company and they ship it to the customers

So, I was supposed to finish post production editing for the photos taken yesterday but by the time I got back home didn't have any time left so hopefully will get it done by tonight.

Plans for tomorrow
Start editing the descriptions for the dropshipping store.

I will be following this thread because You motivated me to start doing something. Wish You the best, crossed fingers about Your journey.

Nice, looks like an interesting journey to follow.

I have been planning on a trip to China as well for sourcing and photography.

Where in China would you recommend? How did you organise the visits and internal travel to suppliers?

Guangzhou. Internal travels and all were quite easy for me since my uncle's been doing business there for over a decade

the zarainfluncer strategy is now being banned by instagram are you aware of that?

If was going to follow the same way it was done ofc the accounts are gonna get banned. And I intend on putting my own twist to it when doing it.
There's not been much to update. I've put the dropshipping one on hold until I can get my friend aboard after his exams in a week due to the amount of work there is. And for the leather one, my samples have come through for the bags I'd placed orders for and they're looking great.
As of now, I'm highly considering a Kickstarter for the leather site

Your English is superb, dear. Good luck on your journey.

What's the advantage of spreading your resources over 2 brands instead of just focusing on one?

My two sites a vastly different in customer demographics. One sells t shirts for $15 the other sells t shirts for $60. One has a bag for 20 the other has bags for 200. I had the opportunity to have access to direct suppliers with dirt cheap pricing with great quality and I just chose to go forward with two stores ones. I could've kept it at a single store but once thought over it a site with high end products makes more sense to be kept completely separate.

Test both sites and find out which one resonates with its target market... and drop the other one to be honest. Better to go all in on 1 site then to spread your resources around when you're still on a limited budget. You can always go back and build up the other brand later on when the main brand is more established and running on (more or less) auto pilot.

Anyways... good luck man. Keep updating the thread :)

I've put the dropship one at a stop already. Focusing on the high end one for now since I don't have the time to invest in both simultaneously. This one is at it's latter stages of production and I'm considering crowd funding for a few reasons.

Currently I'm getting my designer to get the product packaging mockups done. And the creatives I'll be using for the crowd funding page. The target being in the 5 figures ending in December.

Always love an ecom journey. Best of luck & keep us updated :D

thought of comming back to this after nearly 2 years after seeing the newer e-com journeys here lol.
Just a quick update of what's happened during that time period.
Moved to Japan in April of last year for Uni, got a job in the IM sector learned a lot from it but got let go after covid started getting bad.
One of the two brand sites did get completed and made some cash from doing IG shoutouts, but keeping that on the low bc to get it running I'm gonna have to put down about 10k give or take
As for the second one that got put on back burners too.

What I'm currently doing:
Got another job to pay for my basic expenses, doesn't pay much bc there's a limit to how many hours I can work under my current visa.
Made a branded dropship site, imo everything looks good. Just launched ads on it yesterday, two search camps on adwords one brand awareness and one skags. Skags only has 4 terms rn bc it is a very niche product but I'm still researching more terms atm. Fucked up by not adding negative kws onto the skags camp so showed up for some shitty terms that wasted some money.
Currently waiting for my product to be listed on shopping so that I can run shopping camps as well.

Target for now is just to get profitable and maybe hit 1k in profit first. Gonna optimise the adword camps more by adding in more relevant kws and launching the shopping camp.

Quick Update:
Adword's spent $126 no sales so far. Brand awareness and skags spent 50% more than the set budget yesterday.
Added in more relevant search terms, changed the way the product was being shown on the landing page bc I think the previous one was confusing the customers quite a bit.
Also added popup on exit intent and messenger subscription for a discount incentive.
the product I'm selling is on the pricier side so it's gonna take a bit longer before I get the first sale
also need to figure out why the ctr isn't higher
