Watching BBC and there's a representative of Facebook getting interviewed who reveals they have closed 600 million fake accounts.

The presenters says; that's 10 times of the UK population, and she replies but we are closing these quickly....

Would love to know the reaction of big companies who spend millions on advertising, especially as newspapers are suffering due to them shifting their campaigns to Facebook

They deleted 583 M in first quarter of the year itself. I was reading an article last week which said that in total this figured reached to 1.3 B. Curious to know what the shareholders and advertisers have to say about it.

well, lets just say that there is a lot of bull and fake shit on the internet..
Indeed.

This means only 1 thing - CPC will be lower :D

they're gonna start requiring Face ID, address, Passport, Driver's license just to open an account

question is, how many new ones are opened.

problem is - new accounts ^ thats how they target them in the first place. you dont just jump into Facebook, every new Facebook account opened in 2018 (and way before) is suspicious.

I am talking to a girl on FB and I got serious doubt

I closed down 3 FB accounts last week, and am only keeping one as it has a few big pages attached, and a healthy ad account. The whole platform has turned to shit, with a constant rehashing of the same information popping up in their feeds.

The hours saved by not using Facebook is already bearing fruits with other projects. I predict a Myspace style collapse for FB and Instagram. I'd like to see the rise of niche focused social media platforms.

I just saw this video about social media I feel it's loosely related to this thread so i'll post it:

Well it seems like everyone and their dog has a fake account on Facebook.

My 10 year old niece has several accounts and she isn't even old enough to have one. The amount of young children that have accounts must be in the 9 figures.
