Seriously, this is weird. Wedding of some random guy is nothing special, so don't expect anything if you not gathering cash in your family.
Thousands of Europeans getting wedding loans every year or working hard for few years to make wedding. Why people should give you cash?
My brother has $15k wedding last month but he worked hard in copper mine to organize wedding.

Personaly I agree with @BassTrackerBoats method for cheap wedding and I want to do the same in future. Not becuse I haven't cash for wedding but because it's nonsense to spend such money for stupid party for family. They will come just to eat and drink for free, not because they care

If you can't afford to have a big wedding then have a small one or elope.
This is not he way to start married life, if your partner starts to kick up a fuss then maybe it is not meant to be.

Well, well, well.. i somehow understand your predicament but then again.. marriage is not about the wedding ceremony but the legalization of the union. There are many ways you can do so as long as you have a few witnesses by your side; like going to the court house. Once you legalize the union, well you will have the legal and moral mandate to consumate the marriage... you can then plan a ceremony afterwards once your finances allow and invite all n sundry to come witness...

Most likely you'll end up making profit from your weeding when you add up the price of the gifts, so... Investment!
