Hello,
becouse i didnt finded articles with very useful text about the key of geting traffic on pinterest, i am asking you some questions.
Before bigest pinterest update with home feed, then was easy to get traffic, only needed to have boards and to have big number of accounts to repins high.

After this update, can someone tell what is the key to get traffic (etc. 20.000 visits per day) ???

I have 100 accounts but i only have 2-3.000 visitors daily. 1 pin i repins in 300 boards, so this is 300 repins by new article (5 new pins - articles daily).

What i am doing wrong, by new update?

sorry for my english, is not native.

My Pinterest traffic drops over 80% during the past few months. Maybe there's a certain pattern in the way we work with Pinterest that caused us to get penalized by Pinterest.

May I ask you some questions?

1. Do you use any scheduling tool? If yes, what is it? (I use Buffer, sometimes I pin manually)

2. How many pins do you pin per day? (I pin about 5 pins per day)

3. Do you have rich pin enabled? (Yes)

1. Followliker

2. Also 5 pins per day and every pin i repin 300 times.

3. Yes.

I also have 80% drop in traffic. I dont know how to recover. My accounts is clean, not penalized.

Wait, you're repinning the same 5 pins per day for 300 times. That means 5 x 300 = 1500 ?

Some of my pins seem over-optimized in terms of board name and pin description. What do you think fo your board name and pin description combination?

Yes, exactly, but with not results like before algo update.

I using relevant boards with pins (name and desc)

Pinterest has limited the pin reach to motivate more people to use their ads and get rid of dumb spammers(although in the process, they are getting rid of white hat guys like myself too..hopefully they will change that soon before everyone is gone). It takes only a few clicks to see that everyone is affected and even profiles with hundreds of thousands of followers are getting 5-6 repins on newer pins. There's nothing you can do to get crazy traffic with little effort like before, so don't waste your time :) You can't get 20,000 UV daily anymore, unless you post 10,000 unique pins daily.

I have a white hat account, with 30k organic followers. I write content and create pins myself (and even use bought stock images..). Every new pin I post gets about 10 clicks over the span of 1-2 weeks and that's it. Nothing about the actual pin matters, descriptions, tags, links, etc...So creating content for Pinterest these days is for fools. Either find a way to spam efficiently and post 10+k pins daily(although your efforts will still be better spent elsewhere) or move on to a different platform.

Thanks for sharing your insight. I'm not giving up on Pinterest though. The thing is... I know someone who is doing really well after the change.
I'm not 100% sure the reason... but right now I'm thinking of three possibilities:

1. Pinterest favors new websites
2. Keyword over-optimization in board name and pin description - which results in getting penalized
3. Pin frequency too low (or too high)

How well? It's definitely not the things you listed. Maybe he is in just the right niche?

I notice a lot of niches and sub-niches are getting saturated and completely dying. A few years ago "Soak an almond in water for 4 hours and eat it before bed. You won't believe what happens in the morning" or "Drink this drink you wont believe the results" type of pins were doing crazy well, any dumb viral-style pin was getting tons of repins. Probably because the old-lady demographic was lagging a bit behind on the viral-type of stuff, which peaked many years before in the young demographic (viralnova). Now people got used to those pins too much and nobody clicks them anymore - they know it's just false claims.

Also with the new interest-based newsfeed algo, once you look up a pin you start getting thousands and thousands like it in the feed. So anyone who looks up any pin that catches their attention gets immediately exposed to a thousand basically identical pins, saturating their curiosity and killing the trend.

So, yeah, if you're struggling with traffic and repins now, I am 100% sure you won't start getting crazy traffic just by changing your pin frequency, descriptions or whatever. You have to create new trends, move on to a whole different sub-niche & figure out what the old fat ladies actually are interested in now, or just move on.

That's depressing to hear but you could be right, it could be a niche thing. He blogs about fashion.
