Why BHW is so Big?

I want to start my first wesite, is it very hard to get big like BHW? my niche is different but I mean how hard is to get people registered on the website?
How I can get traffic and get bigger? I dont want to spend 100000$ for FB ADS.
I have only 1 competitor. they are famous .

Spend 15 years doing SEO, done, you have BHW

Try it, fail, fail again and again and again and once you know what you are doing, you will make some money. Unless you have grit and persistence, then don't bother.

900k users? No way. When I wanted to buy email blast, there was 11k user database to blast by BHW staff.

Where are the rest? For 900k blast I would pay even $20k but for $2000 for 11k? No way

Now, it's arround 4k online people and only 700 members. I know bigger forums (of course not SEO) but with arround 50k online MEMBERS, not guests

Start small and dominate, and then expand. With a forum, you can start one section and just get hundreds of members discussing in one section. Obviously, you could start with 30 sections, but then that spreads your forum thin and members would notice how empty things are.

For instance, if you're starting a forum for dog owners, start by creating only one section on that forum about pugs. After you get hundreds of people talking about pugs, maybe expand out to Weiner dogs.

SEO? well BHW made by VBulletin , VBulletin already optimized for best SEO. you dont need to do anything for SEO with VBulletin, I doubt they spend 15 years for SEO.

They are fucking big with a Premium Domain (70k$ only for that domain), I do my best.

I have been a member of BHW since March - 2008 and have watched it grow, and I would like to think in some small way, I have even contributed in part to its growth along with several other "Old Timers" - many of whom are still with us today.

Back in 2008, BHW had a different owner. He was an OK guy, however, he was quickly losing interest in the forum. Also, some of his choices for Admins and moderators were not the best. He then sold BHW to our current owner, @Diamond Damien. Damien immediately got rid of the bad elements and opened an ongoing line of communication with the staff. He took more of a business-like, professional approach which resulted in some major improvements, and to this day, he is still very hands-on and continues to make positive changes. Therefore, in my opinion, much of the reason why BHW became big (and continues to grow) can be credited to our fearless leader, @Diamond Damien.

BHW is not because of SEO, maybe it has something to do with it but it’s not big just because of this, maybe it’s has something to do with its community of well known people, its marketplace and also because it’s a reference in its niche.
