I have been there,
@GopalGoyal. I am there now. It will dull over time, and flare up. Nothing will ever make it go away. You don't hear people saying "I had depression but I got over it." But things get better.
Medication will only serve to numb your senses to the things around you. It'll make things taste less flavorful, and make experiences less memorable. There is a constant fog, and you will realize that no medication is better than walking around life with a condom on, if you get my drift.
Meditation is utter bullshit when you are dealing with depression and anxiety. Being alone with your thoughts while trying desperately to make them just GO AWAY is not a good move to make, and I would advise against it unless you already actively meditate. Same with most of the other pseudo garbage that people have suggested (essential oils, really?).
Sure, some people might have experience in this situation. But their scent of anxiety and depression isn't your scent, right? Right. I'm in the same boat. Overextended, overworked, and my own fault. A good outlet for me is exercise, but I'd rather crank through that last 1,000 word article and pull some weeds than take the time to deal with running three miles and the cool-off and shower that comes after.
The bank account goes up, but the weight goes up, the stress levels go up, and the feelings of dread and self-doubt skyrocket.
Helplessness sets in, and then when you feel like you're ready to just take that tiny step out into the path of a speeding Honda, the world tosses several more piles of steaming shit straight at you.
- Maybe your job gets more difficult and your responsibilities grow, but you're on a salary and the extra hours work amount to zero dollars.
- Maybe you screw something up somewhere and it makes a report go awry and a senior VP gets wind.
- Maybe there was a highly-publicized shooting at one of your favorite spots to take pictures and now you can't go there any more because you don't want to think about the dead people.
Sorry bud, but it doesn't go away. Being in love and in a happy, stable marriage doesn't make it disappear. Having a bank account so well padded that you could effectively quit your job and be fine for years doesn't make it disappear. The snuggle of a happy dog doesn't make it disappear. Fun times with friends and family doesn't make it disappear.
It doesn't go away... but it gets SO much better. And don't worry, most people don't understand that someone reaching out on an internet forum probably doesn't want to talk to a therapist or go see a doctor. Maybe they just want to find people that can relate to and commiserate with.
Good luck, brah. Just remember, when you feel like you can't take it any more and that it would be easier to just hang yourself or OD or something, that's not how you do it. That's not how you win the game. You win by dealing with your struggles, riding the waves of crippling sadness and unimaginable fear and anxiety, and still overcoming and prospering.
